1st​ Battalion Salutes Its Fallen​

1st​ Battalion— 24 AUG 2024 — Officers and men of the 1st​ Battalion, 7th​ Cavalry Gaming Regiment, celebrated the memory and legacy of its fallen brothers and sisters during their annual observance of the 7th​ Cavalry Memorial Day held on Saturday, 24 August 2024. The short memorial service was conducted on a customized Memorial Garden map inside the ArmA 3 game engine and allowed players throughout the Regiment to attend via their avatars to pay their respects. The service itself featured a keynote address from Major Joe Highman, Commander of Alpha Company, 1st​ Battalion, who served as the event emcee as well as a fly-over salute and a rendering of Taps.

A dozen volunteers began the planning process months in advance to ensure that the event was significant, memorable, and appropriate. Representatives from Alpha Company's 2nd​ Platoon, S3 Operations, and S5 Public Affairs each donated several hours of their time in planning meetings, rehearsals, map designs and edits, speech writing and timing, advertising, and coordination. The process begins almost as soon as the previous year's event concludes.

2nd Platoon, Charlie Troop B/ACD is accepting applications for a Squad Leader position for our defensive infantry Squad in 2nd Platoon, Charlie Troop. 3/2/B/ACD currently meets for Section Practice on Sunday at 2200z. Regardless of meeting all formal requirements, everyone interested is encouraged to apply.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be in good standing with no active negative actions
• Maintained MOS for a minimum of 30 days before selection
• Be at the minimum rank of Specialist or higher upon recommendation
• Letter of interest from Trooper to Platoon staff for review
• Platoon Staff reviews all candidates and their letters
• Selected by Company Staff(can delegate to a platoon) or a higher level of COC who officially appoints the position

Submit an application upon position opening and follow the application process unless Company/Platoon staff selects an SL to fill the role. Candidates will be reviewed by Staff. The application deadline is the 1st September , 2024.

• Knowledgeable in defensive infantry tactics
• SOP Familiarization - Keep yourself updated with standard operating procedures as detailed in the 7th Cav Wiki.
• Section Practice - Assist with planning and conducting a section practice (SP) in accordance with standards and guidelines outlined by the Platoon and Company Staff.
