Element Callsign: BUFFALO-4

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Pros:
  • Good inter flight comms
  • Great comms between 1 and 5, and relaying info to flight
  • Insert went well, and fun hectic exfil
  • The exciting parts felt really exciting!
  • The use of a low and slow water drop is always fun

Cons:
  • Resupply not being avail at base from the get go
  • Seemed slow after insert for Buff 3 and 4
  • The use of the CH47 was a good idea, but the timing to resupply the FARP was too close to exfil it required a quick turn and burn at the main base to get back into a UH60 for exfil
  • Overflights and/or clockwise and counterclockwise simultaneous orbits over last objective/exfil

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Major Dread.M (Buffalo 4 Crew Chief)
First Lieutenant Highman.J (Buffalo 1 Crew Chief)
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Wulf.C (Buffalo 2 Pilot)
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Dujakovic.R (Buffalo 3 Crew Chief)
Warrant Officer 1 Hamm.C (Buffalo 1 Pilot, late join)
Corporal Kastor.K (Buffalo 1 Door Gunner)
Specialist Law.S (Buffalo 2 Crew Chief)
Specialist Spin.M (Buffalo 4 Pilot)
Private First Class Sawyer.H (Buffalo 3 Pilot)

Pros:
  • Helocast was great, something fun and new to do.
  • Hot insert/extracts are fun to do.
  • FARP Setup was nice to have added in.
Cons:
  • Down time after initial insert.
  • FARP setup should be done sooner.
  • Comms were spotty at times.
  • Resupp wasn't initially available.
  • Flight Leader should either set LZ/DZ, or at a minimum be consulted...LZ Lumberjack was not possible to landed at, and there was no FRIES available to fast rope.

Pros:
  • Tripwire mines were cool and an interesting extra thing to the MOUT.
  • Loved the Helocast drop into the river.
  • Squad really liked the MOUT work.
Cons:
  • On second objective squad was tasked with CQB through a lane with multiple dozens of buildings as an understength element.
  • Lack of explosives to remove said building from map. (Our bad)
  • Desync got bad after being picked up from the bird on the second objective.

Pros:
  • Squad work was pretty great.
  • Inter-platoon communications were pretty good.
  • Helocast was well-done.
  • 5 & 7 did a great job in their roles.
  • We captured an HVT.
Cons:
  • Server performance caused major issues at the first objectives, causing serious casualties by desync/laggy AI/laggy Talon members/a wall going ballistic.
  • Integration with Talon left a little to be desired. People were 'gaming' ARMA, pretty heavily, and it was noticed. I struggle to say that their implementation 'enhanced' our experience, but rather led to plenty of frustration.
  • People going AFK mid-fight.
  • This wasn't really a 'RAID' in the context of the second objective. This was a company/battalion level-assault being done with a platoon-sized BLUFOR.
  • Scaling seemed off for the operation as a whole. Lots of ground to be covered left some issues with mutual-support being element, timing, pacing, etc.
  • Blue on Blue occurred.
  • We were dropped at the wrong HLZ Lumber Jack, adding another 600-700m walk for infantry.
  • We weren't given the correct resupply boxes for demolitions.
  • Exfiltration went seriously poorly due to a number of factors. Rushed deadline extraction due to a miscommunication, elements were still in contact when exfil was on final, LZ was exposed. Decision was made to move to the HLZ with the entire platoon due to a CH-47 suspected to be en-route, but, it was suddenly scratched and replaced with Buffalos. We ended up leaving guys on the deck, and I hate that.

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Pros:
  • A lot of medical care was needed, probably thanks to the OPFOR players :)
  • Pacing was good, there weren't any major hiccups
Cons:
  • Extraction on final OBJ was very messy
  • Some noticeable dsync
  • Some troopers should learn that they need to get in cover before attempting to bandage themselves

Notes from PEGASUS-6 point of view on the OP

Pros:
  • Mission concept was Allstar. Multiple AOs, simo attacks on multiple LZs, and Helocast. What's not to love
  • Inclusion of FARP though after thought is a good idea. If included as part of the initial plans aviation can support better
  • Hot inserts and exfils are a good challenge for aviation, but can lead to not as much fun for infantry if they go bad
Cons:
  • LZ changes are at the discretion of the flight lead. Though frustrating to infantry it is the flight leads call if they feel an LZ is too tight or too hot. Alternates will always be as close as possible to the requested LZ.
  • Miscommunication about Grizzly vs Buffalo for exfil. It was communicated by 5 because I was sitting next to him, but with the chaos of the PZ it wasn't received.
  • Purpose 3 minute (thats still too long) time from wheels down to wheels up time limit. The SOP would be wheels up orbit and come back in to pick up everyone else. ARMA issues should be called by the SL. If someone cant load because of ARMA we game the game. Its simulated and communicated up that 1 trooper left on the deck because of ARMA. I clocked the hot extract for 4 minutes and 23 seconds from wheels down to wheels up. At the 3:23 minute mark the bird was flash banged and engaged. It was all time spent trying to load a patient that wouldnt load. Recommend patient is loaded first and then everyone. If already partially loaded disembark and provide security.

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Pros:
  • OBJ Python was fun
  • Squad react to contact was good
  • Squad internal communication was clear for the most part
  • Good use of fire and maneuver
  • HELOCAST was fun and successful. No injuries or mishaps
  • Server performance was good
Cons:
  • Final exfil was a bit scuffed. The LZ was under constant fire
  • LZ Lumberjack was missed by about 500m, making for a long walk on an already drawn out mission
  • Raids didn't really feel like proper raids. Some server hiccups and a hefty amount of outlaw shenanigans led to a few moments where I could hear my troopers giving up on the mission out of absurdity
