Pros:

  • Managed to complete some objectives even though we were understrength majority of the Op
  • Had fun when we were clearing our lane in Morton

Cons:

  • The comms were bad tonight, Platoon Net was filled with way too many callsigns which made it hard to get comms through
  • I was essentially half strength almost the entire Op
  • The plan felt very complicated and there was so much to remember and I just couldn't keep up
Notes: I feel like this Op would've been good in a different setting, in my opinion if this was a night Op with Viking/Sierras and the objective was to clear morton and then demo the AA network, that would've been a great change. If we have lots of assets on especially FOs, we need to split radio comms so we aren't having 9 people on the same net trying to talk. Utilize decimal 5 (32.5).

Element Callsign: PIONEER-7
Element Leader: Specialist Murdock.T

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Corporal Mooser.G

Pros:
  • Op was lots of fun
  • Medical system seemed to work pretty well and we didn't personally experience any issues with it
  • We got LOTS of work in due to the insanely high amount of contact
  • CQB when clearing the town was a blast

Cons:
  • OP was super chaotic, it felt like we were pushing and assaulting a bit too quickly.
  • It felt like we didn't get enough requests for 7 over the radio. We got some but many of the casualties that we ended up treating were ones we just happened to come across when bouncing around the different squads.
  • We could've DEFINITELY could've used one or two more assistant medics, especially given how spread out our platoon ended up when clearing the town. The high levels of contact and casualties was a bit overwhelming for just two of us.
  • Blue on blue (oops)
  • Some big stutters and lag at one point when we were moving in to the AO

Specialist DeCann.A
Pros:
  • It was fun stepping to into the shoes of a roll i never understood much working closely with odin group and pioneer-6
  • new medical system is fun to use and learn more despite already knowing most of how it works

Cons:
  • Was difficult trying to figure out some of the necessities for loki while on the front lines advancing and repelling enemy forces
  • Some communication's need to be worked on for calling fire support from pioneer to loki and then to odin and reverse for battle damage assessments

Notes: the operation in total was fun working along infantry troops coming from an aviation platoon we never really see how the ground forces move and work together. i struggled personal with learning the loki position at the begging again coming from an aviation we only use fire missions to attack targets via raider or sparrow.

Corporal Villmarsson.L

Pros:
Great to see mortars in ops still
Really good convoy comms between Odin and Helios
Good squad banter

Cons:
Lack of BDA of some missions left Odin in the dark about effectiveness
We need coordinates in 8 digit grid for effective fires due to mortar spread
Felt under utilized throughout the mission

  6. Specialist Giordano.C
  7. Private First Class Yota.G
  8. Recruit Collella.A

Pros:
  • Troopers had a lot of fun. Teams were in contact almost the entire OP, making for a chaotic, fun time.
  • The squad had 2 major mass casualty events. During these times, teams were able to fight through, provide security, and render aid.
  • Pioneer 7 was on it for the mass casualties, kept us moving forward.
  • Good comms between FTLs and SL during movements and house clearing.
  • COC was utilized to great effect during mass casualties.

Cons:
  • Platoon net was bogged down with high traffic, making comms challenging.
  • Troopers did not like having to travel back to Grey for the vehicles to only index once they arrived.

First Sergeant Summerfield.P (Grizzly-1)
Specialist Holman.R (Grizzly-1)
Private First Class Riggs.F (Grizzly-1)
Private First Class Johnsen.M (Grizzly-1)

Pros:
Great communications within each airframe
Great communication between both airframes
Comms with Chaos were excellent and able to quickly get us into the action
Had some new folks to aviation side of thing who were motivated to learn
Grizzly was glad to get the chance to be running supplies as well as reinserts
Sparrow had plenty to do tonight as well as multiple knife fights with REDAIR, 5 A2A kills

Cons:
Very short flight time between airfield and AO.
Sparrow had a weapons glitch were would not switch between different weapon systems accurately
Thermal systems need to be looked at largely, it will make a huge difference for aircrews.
Mid-air collision with enemy REDAIR on 1 occasion (Lack of reaction time on my own part)

Pros:
  • Comms were above average with CAS aircraft
  • CAS was done extremely well
  • Comms with 6, 6R and 5 were done well
  • Objectives were taken very well despite the large amount of enemies in the AO
Cons:
  • One instance of Blue on Blue, but that was probably my fault

Pros:
  • Lots of good interactions both inside the squad and with ODIN
  • Good amount of work which kept the squad moving and engaged with the operation
  • Had a lot of freedom to work within the framework of the operation
  • Everyone had a good time overall
Cons:
  • Really should have pushed more to have GRIZZLY landing at the FARPs we were establishing and letting HELIOS do the last-mile drive in for reinserts, especially with a platform as fragile as GRIZZLY landing within 300 meters of friendly forces to get those reinserts into the AO
  • Should have done more buddy team tasks rather than individual tasks to keep people together and safer
  • Got confused on what radio nets I should have been monitoring, personal mistake as I didn't read the OPORD as thoroughly as I should have

Pros:
  • Had fun! Good group to hangout with and game.
  • We accomplished a portion of the mission before we were pushed out by IDF.
  • Lots of usage of our airframes.
  • Pioneer 7 was on it and was wherever we needed them when we need them.
  • Helios was available for resupply and got it to us before the IDF took us down.
Cons:
  • Overcomplicated the execution phase of this OPORD. Pioneer-4 was underutilized due to the position I put them and therefore they were not in mutual support of the platoon.
  • I was pushing too hard and too fast without taking time to properly assess the progress of our movement/assault.
  • The platoon net was bogged down and I should have pushd Chaos to a separate net to be in contact with the GFC. Originally it was briefing for them to be on the company net but they got switched partway in and I didn't move them.
  • HQ was not recieving proper contact reports or sitreps, however later on in the operation it was not as easy due to the bogged down platoon net.
  • Some buildings were missed in the clearing of quardrants.
  • Overall, lots to learn from this operation as a Commander!
