Pros:

  • Good Infantry Tactics and communication with 6
  • When we finally got our helicopter, we got three full loads of pax delivered
  • Coordination between squads was excellent
  • I had a blast, despite not being a fan of PvP
  • Good concept of swimming around the cape to attack from the rear
  • 6 had his hands full, but he did extraordinarily well in his coordination and execution
  • The assault on Signal Hill by Buffalo was an excellent attempt. Breaking contact was also effective when the assault was being repelled
Cons:
  • Backup platoon net should be a part of our briefing/plan
  • Frustrations lead to a lot of troops leaving before objectives were taken
  • There was a random DC at the end, it put my helicopter into the ground destroying it.
Suggestions:

  • We should continue with the use of AARs after the fact, and then the 5/6 of both sides should get together after the fact to discuss issues and tactics.

Pros:
  • Switching the server with a password and pre-planned server is a way to go. Good work by S3 putting this together.
  • PvP is not everyones bag, certainly not mine, but fighting the AI at the start was fun.
  • -6 did his best but this was not a MILSIM environment in even the slightest.
Cons:
  • Behavior issues by 7Cav members.
  • PvP is not conducive to MILSIM, at least not in this medium. Applying trained upon actual tactics doesn't work against an enemy that knows your tactics. Either different tactics need to be developed or abandoned entirely to cultivate any success.
  • The 2 sides equipment is not even close to balanced. The only advantage US side has is the Huey is easier to fly.

Pros:

  • Always good to see a high turnout in a new game.
  • Good mix of public and Cav members.
  • A few brave souls who saw it through to the end and made an awesome last ditch attempt to change things up score a dub for the good guys. Love you all!
Cons:
  • I think most of the complaints I heard stem from the PvP aspects of Conflict.
    • Lack of regard for life
    • Trash talking
    • Strange tools available that are really game system driven.
    • RUSFOR is definitely the meta.
  • Personal con, I learned a few things about 6'ing in Reforger.
    • The 1-7 methodology pretty much goes out the window and everything drops to squad level until the squad loses cohesion.
    • Once cohesion is lost, he who blobs better wins.
    • Individual level tactics between buddies seem way more effective than anything else.
Last thing I'll say. I personally have generally been having fun with Reforger but this evening felt like a beating. I'm seriously questioning if I'd come back for another one of these. Not really my cup of tea.

To preface this I'm going to do my best to restate what I said after the game with a small group of people, and I speak from the perspective of a console player and what I think could be done better to improve recruiting numbers as well as teaching console players what it means to be apart of the Cav

Pros:

  • Large turnout was nice to see
  • Cav to Public ratio was decent

Cons:
  • As a server that is primarily majority console players I feel as though we should be catering to an experience that most console players don't get to experience ever (I.E. Highly tactical and interactive storytelling through the operations, that I feel the PVP Ops can't provide)
  • Console players have never had this level of freedom to enjoy a heavily tactical experience that combines a lot of fast paced action with some more logistical and slower paced objectives. When you think of a console player and FPS games most of the time you're going to think call of duty, halo, battlefield etc. The Cav should be looking to introduce these players to a NEW and EXCITING way to approach an FPS. Using the PVE Ops is a way to instill in these players a sense of investment and dedication to learning how a tactical shooter of this caliber is played and enjoyed by people like us within the Cav which in my mind would bring in new recruits in DROVES.

Final Remarks:
As someone who enjoys narrative storytelling and having fun with a group of guys I consider very good friends, I think it is IMPERATIVE that we go in a route that is different from the majority of the servers that populate within the community server list. Instead of throwing a bunch of guys in a game and making them fight it out, why not make these players use their heads and create a deeper sense of comradery by making them play TOGETHER to fight a common enemy and solve problems as a team. In my opinion one of the main selling points of the Cav and what got me to join in the first place was the idea that I would be able to meet a bunch of like minded individuals and bond over a multitude of different tasks and mission sets, this is what we should be marketing and I don't think there is a better way to do that then making people work together.

A BIG CAVEAT, this is my perspective as a Recruit, and may not be a reflection of your personal experience. If you disagree and want to discuss, hit me up on discord or PM me, I'm here to learn and build relationships.

Pros:
  • Great Communication from FTL and the pub players we absorbed into our element.
  • Securing and holding Signal Hill for the majority of the op was the best experience I've had Reforger yet, and I will die on that hill (which I did)
  • Good coordination between Logi and Security to fortify our position and call out enemy troop movements
Cons:
  • MILSIM experience is a little harder to maintain in PVP, unit cohesion definitely started to breakdown as firefights dragged on.
  • Team balance was skewed toward the end. OPFOR had a clear advantage in numbers during the final assault. Even though it was fun, it cheapened the win.
Final Remarks:
VIP-3, y'all were great. Dups was a fantastic FTL, great communication even through times where our element started to break down. RCT.Mors.V was my battle buddy as we scouted our back line for harassing BLUFOR elements and pushed to the final assault on the airfield; exciting and scary, which I would say is a great way to experience the game.

PVP is definitely not for everyone, and it was definitely apparent that some of us start to lose sight of the MILSIM experience when dealing with an opposing force that is; unpredictable, intelligent, and learning. But on the flip side, I think that ops like these are a great way to include some of the more PVP focused pub players and show them a side of the game they've never seen before.

I think PVP can be a great way to introduce potential RCTs to the Cav or to MILSIM as a whole. I believe we just need to stay focused on providing that experience and understand that these are growing pains to overcome. I sympathize with the people who want PVE, as that's the reason I joined the Cav, but I can appreciate the hard work that's being put into coordinating these ops and trying to provide a positive experience for all.

TLDR; GG, some great, some not so great. Would play again. Not all ops are going to be liked. Keep an open mind and remember we learn from experience, good and bad.
