Pros:
  • Enough work to do, killed several columns of tanks.
Cons:
  • Incorrect intel in the briefing; was led to believe there was minimal anti-aircraft, turns out there was a lot of ZU guns and Igla turrets.
    • I don't mind a heavy AA net, but being told there isn't any and it turns out there was makes it very frustrating.
  • Shot down twice by AA led to lack of ISR for the infantry.
  • Radios not working, not sure what the issue was but took CSAR a while to get in contact, when I was in contact with Chaos at the same time.
  • Chaos called out his own concern of not making calls correctly, but it would also be advisable to understand what different types of aircraft are capable.

Pros
  • 10/10 execution on the convoy from our perspective
  • Really good autonomy from the Teams and practice of fundamentals including:
    • Great movements, some good examples of organic fire and manoeuvre and alternate bounding
    • Good security
    • Phenomenal succession of command by Crowley
  • Great 'set piece' of contact from the mission maker, holding the line from a QRF.
  • Great work from our CLS, Houston. Almost every squad member was downed at some point and he handled casualties very professionally. As a squad our team leaders did very well to do CASEVACs
  • Excellent work by ATLAS in responding and keeping us in the fight
  • Good work from Buffalo flight, providing a constant stream of reinserts with really close LZs as directed by -5.
  • Great work from the mission maker in ensuring a nice balance of contact vs server performance
  • Nice detailed OPORD from -6
Cons
  • I made the poor decision to fire an AT-4 in a closed environment
  • I made the decision not to break contact when it would have benefitted the platoon more to have pulled off of our blocking.
  • I felt awkward trying to mesh in with Platoon intent, but after talking with -6 and -5 it worked well.
  • Didn't see much ISR or CAS, would be nice to have seen more of Raider

Pros:
  • Lots of medical work both surgeries, criticals and routine
  • Well stocked vehicle and good usage of the ambulance
  • Great teamwork within the team
Cons:
  • Lots of DOAs/Delayed/No calls due to no dedicated 7 since its hard for 5 to multi task.
  • Snarky comments/impatience from infantry when treating reds/routine
  • Some cardiac during surgeries

Pros:
  • Excellent ACE reports and buddy aid by the squads!
  • Buffalos 1 & 2 were absolutely on point tonight! Crisp comms, excellent adaptation to my ever changing LZs, and an impromptu call for CAS support on a squad to facilitate a break contact.
  • Atlas 1 & 2 were consummate professionals, I had like half of an idea of how to do B7 in addition to B5, and I leaned heavily on them to be proactive! Excellent response to what calls came over platoon net before I could really even task them. Thank you all very much!
  • Platoon movements were very good, even when our vehicles got shot out from underneath us.
  • Collected 2/3 bits of intel (lore purposes).
Cons:
  • If a squad is employing a DMR, that needs to be discussed during the brief so that resupply can be adjusted accordingly. On that note, troopers should not be taking it upon themselves to take a DMR kit unless SPECIFICALLY instructed to do so by their SL.
  • PSG and PLT Medic are very different roles and although both are "do-able" by one person, really really need 2 to be done correctly.
  • The convoy was kind of a mess tonight. Upon hitting that roadblock the trailing elements should have taken the route that B2 did and B1 should have turned around and assumed the rear positions. Stopping a convoy to try to demo a roadblock while in Humvees was, in hindsight, a pretty bad idea.

COMBAT AFTER ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: Chaos
Element Leader: Corporal Kastor.K
Pros:

  • Good effects on targets from both RAIDER and BUFFALO, whenever we were able to coordinate.
  • Really appreciate mission planners taking CHAOS into account with the breakaway point and OP with a good LOS to the target.
Cons:
  • Unfortunately, I did not recognize that the overcast weather would make me completely unable to see the AO from the 2-3 km distant OP1.
  • Unhappy with own performance with targeting Rotary CAS, need much more practice with it. Much more fluent with FW CAS.
  • Radio issues that required swapping radio packs or relaying messages (RAIDER's CSAR).
  • Random drive-by BTR killed me out of nowhere and who knows from how far.
  • Forced to rely on Darter drone which doesn't have the ranging-to-BFT capability of the Vector.
  • Darter's autonomous flight module did not work, forced to rely on manual flight with keyboard.
  • Was unaware RAIDER are unable to pickup a laser designator (no IR-capable targeting pod by default).
  • This set of factors caused issues and slow down in target designation.
  • Slowdowns, pressure from ground forces, RAIDER being down multiple times, my own death - forced me to expedite and simplify CAS calls and I've done this too much.

Pros:
  • Full Bird
  • Good Flow of work
  • Spicy LZ
  • Repaired a bird in the field and was able to fly it back
Cons:
  • Bird Repair time was stupid high at 15 minutes to fully repair a bird. It was unfortunate that the oil depot was leaking at the time and a FNG lit his cigarette there right next to the bird which was next to the oil depot... (perhaps a cap of 300 seconds (5 minutes) would be good)

Pros:
Great comms
Good amount of work for the squad
Taught some Atlas Skills
5 killed it
Troopers for the most part were providing self and buddy aid

Cons:
A lot of black tags due to some of the wound counts, one trooper in particular had almost 70 wounds on his chest alone
AED-X bugged out leaving a member unable to use pads or connect monitors
Convoy was a bit wonky, some confusion when one of the bandit vehicles were destroyed on whether to push through contact or not led to platoon being split
