Pros:
  • Great reaction to contact and CQB Work out of the crew tonight. We used bases of fire and maneuver to get through.
  • Great work by the mission maker and Zeus on creating channelizing terrain. Forced us to use demo blocks to clear maneuver lanes to avoid enemy beaten zones. Enemies were in places that made it challenging but also that made sense to be in a defensive posture.
  • Good intrasquad comms with the split elements working there way through the middle of the AO.
  • Ambush on the trailing element was text book on why the trailing element should be 200-300m behind the rest of the Platoon.
  • Starting at a patrol base and ending at a new one was a nice touch to the mission.
  • Atlas setting CCPs in cleared areas.
Cons:
  • Should have reorganized for two light fireteams, it got messy by the end running one large fireteam in the squad towards the end of the operation.
  • Platoon movement felt sloppy at portions with elements being so close together. Ideally the leading element should be about 100-200m in front of the main element to act as the trip wire for the rest of the platoon.

Pros:

  • Solid mission concept.
  • Solid use of little birds, happy to see them included again.
  • Good bird comms.
Cons:
  • Conflict between mission parameteres and FAC control.
  • We could've used a FARP or FARP bird for Sparrow re-arm.
  • The mission brief seemed to suggest more QRF pas the LOA line but only one came at the end.

Pros:
Platoon did a fantastic job as an internal unit
Squad had some excellent SA and movements that did not require much management
Responsive -5 and -6, some great coordination with -2 and -1 when it happened
Definitely would love to do more patrol base ops. It's a hidden Charlie staple.

Cons:
Platoon attachments were extremely far behind and not located within the platoon they are supporting.
-4 felt offset from the obj way too much at times, largely due to the issue mentioned above
Resupply was hella delayed due to CSAR

Non-7th Cavalry Within Element:
  • N/A

Pros:
  • Fun
    • Everyone had a very good time
    • Yay!
  • Contact
    • Lots of fighting
    • Lots of enemy movement around AO / Dynamic Positions
  • Objective Layout
    • Thoughtful buildup of defenses
    • Felt very intentional with enemy placement
  • Platoon Movement
    • To objective was in good order
    • From objective was a little tight
      • BLUFOR markers not indicative of entire element position

Cons:
  • Aircraft Flyover
    • Blew cover before stepoff
  • Razorwire
    • No brief on these kind of positions
    • We were not able to destroy the wire we encountered with explosives
  • OPFOR
    • Russian Body Armor™ was profound once again
    • Hiding EI when soft clearing builds
  • AOI Assault
    • Interior clearing was messy
  • Mutual Support
    • 4 was quite a distance away from PL
    • Didn't feel any support from them in east lane
  • OP End
    • Ended with whimper with a long walk back
    • Walking is fine! Just want a payout

Element Leader: Second Lieutenant Bethea.A

Pros:

  • Squads all did a great job in execution and remaining fluid despite a very challenging defensive position held by the enemy.
  • Great maneuvering to close to the objective without taking contact.
  • Sparrow was on target all night and was relatively quick to respond to to calls for fire.
  • Enjoyed the foot movement in and out.
  • Did not kill any HVTs per GODFATHER.
Cons:
  • Some small radio comms issues caused by loadouts and user technical issues.
  • Chaos was out of position and almost got murdered as a result.

Recruit Tyler.N

Pros:

  • Great mission, great concept and had a ton of fun.
  • Nice to fly Little Bird and have good action in it (even though I'm a Blackhawk freak and much prefer that).
  • HVT extract was pretty cool, although I'm not sure of the realistic nature of putting HVT's on Little Birds and not Blackhawks. I mean, did they handcuff them to the bird and how IRL would they be properly secured. Blackhawk would certainly be more appropriate for this IMO. Either way, the HVT extract was conducted very well as Ground Forces had them perfectly gathered and ready to go.
  • Comms with BANDIT-5 (Hilberg.A) were fantastic, WHEN TFAR radio range allowed for it. Coordination was absolutely solid and he should do this job more often cause he's really damn good at it.
  • Multiple CSAR missions and all tremendously successful in large part due to me having a competent co-pilot Tyler.N who did fantastically through the whole OP. Certainly expedited the situation so we could try to get back to our re-supply tasking as quickly as possible. He is new to The Cav, and learned a lot and it is honestly rare for me to see new guys do so damn good on their first OP. Extremely well done bro.
  • Resupply tasking was done really well, albeit delayed by our priority CSARs. If ammo/medical is ever getting even one bit in question, just let us know and we'll get it out to you much sooner.
  • VFR flight between Little Bird pilots was really good. Good SA and maneuvering.
Cons:
  • Not many cons other than I suppose the delay in re-supply. The resupply was done as quickly possible. CSAR efforts were appraised as high priority to a) Keep our CAP pilots up, otherwise we all might get shot down or worse, and then we are all crippled, and b) get our guys back in action, and c) Get CAP pilots back up so we can reliably and expeditiously get the resupplies to Ground Forces and continue on.
  • TFAR radio range can be frustrating when trying to coordinate.

Element Callsign: ATLAS-1
Element Leader: SGT.Blake.H (RET)

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Master Sergeant Zimm.L
Major Stewart.B

Pros:
  • Mission execution was good overall
  • We had fun
  • We had multiple surgeries for broken bones, some debridement
  • Enough atlas team members for the scale of the operation, anymore would have been detrimental.
Neutral:
  • mid-tier mission
    • it was okay
    • not enough contact for the amount of non-action (moving, setting up etc.)
    • felt like a short mission
    • weak QRF
    • long extract to the new MOB seemed mostly pointless, would have been better to have something happening during this time or people just see this as a time-extending factor with no real fun involved - it always turns into a gaggle of who can get back first to start their AAR
  • We had to split up (one member joined -7)
Cons:
  • Pre-planned CCP's were not really needed nor in desirable places, -7 or ATLAS should be designating CCP's using their own discretion
  • We were almost left out of support at some distance to the rear of the element during the assault phase
  • I forgot to mark a CCP on the map, though it was marked in CTAB
  • Network performance showed some desync (frames were good)
  • Some troopers came to the CCP without injuries only bruises or after already being stitched/treated.
  • We felt a little too spread out during the assault as we were trying to be mindful of -4's position which seemed too far from the rest of the platoon
  • We had to clear a house next to our CCP that contained an AR gunner which was missed by the assault element.
