COMBAT AFTER ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: HOG / CHAOS
Element Leader: First Lieutenant Highman.J

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Pros:
  • Solid cooperation between Chaos and Hog
  • Proper use of game plans and 9-lines for the vast majority of the mission
  • Really good server performance
  • No friendly fire; no aircraft lost
Cons:
  • Mission map was so small that it was hectic to manage all the sensor slewing
  • The Sniper pod would not fire its laser for designation; I RTBed, replaced the pylon with Lightning pod, and it worked the rest of the mission
  • My marksmanship wasn't very good tonight

Element Callsign: BISON-1
Element Leader: Warrant Officer 1 Hamm.C 'Hooker'

Pros:

  • Had a great time, even though there was some downtime, I was able to take some time to help a public player with radios/comms/server guidance etc.
  • Good server performance. Frames were good, even in Hatchet 60 cockpit, which was really cool. Hopefully, that continues.
  • Pro and Con= Able to figure out through test firing that the AGM 114-Kilo Hellfires are totally borked (at least in this OP setting) however and weirdly, the APKs tracked and impacted on the lase. So that is a learning lesson---> When we use BISON, let's just go with APKWS instead of the Hellfires. It does suck (because APKs don't have top-down attack mode and not nearly as powerful, but they are sufficient) and I am asking the Hatchet guys if they are aware/know of what is happening with the Hellfires. This comment isn't nearly to suggest we shouldn't use BISON because it's fantastic, we just need to use the APKs until us Alpha Company Mavericks figure out what is going on with the Hellfires.
Cons:
  • Map really small. [certainly for aviation]. Not expansive enough, especially for WW.
  • Hellfires borked. Still trying to figure this problem out. Let's go with APKs for now until we do.
  • I could have done way better with comms with 5 and CHAOS; was trying to manage too many things and got task saturated. My mindset when flying transport or hybrid attack/transport MLASS/DAP bird is I don't want to leave anybody sitting at base, so that is always my priority, especially when we have other CAS platforms, especially HOG. Plus I had to test the missiles cause I'm not having any blue on blue from my bird.
  • Something happened with Lightening early-on which was unfortunate.
  • No co-pilot or crew until a public player came along like 20 minutes till ENDEX.... so flying a helicopter competently and perfectly is extremely difficult with that dual attack/transport role given the task saturation.
  • Not that we necessarily needed it for this one, but 36.6 ropes in inventory by default just in case FRIES is needed/requested/required.
