Pro:
  • Fun OP
  • Good Teamwork
  • Fun time with the people who were there
  • Buffalo getting hit by a mortar
Con:
  • Personally, I wish we were punished for using the same routes in and out. We train primary and secondary route planning but it doesn't get done but this is a con
  • No infantry attacking the downed helo

Pro:
  • Considering the late start with map marking and the red light, we had a very quick prep time and a fairly quick step-off into the AO.
  • Tons of medical work tonight. Multiple MASCAS scenarios to work through.
  • Good comms between alpha and bravo teams, with numbers permitting fairly independent actions from both.
  • Very hectic at times, leading to a challenging and fun environment.
  • Allowing buddy teams the independence to move freely and support different squads went well.
  • Lots of fun, even for the latecomers.
  • Good comms with -7 and excellent work on his part regarding medical care.
  • Some new faces to Atlas tonight, an excellent first experience for them.
  • Lots of surgical work since the number of medics carrying surgical equipment was low. This led to work being very focused.
  • Due to movement and the high casualties, there was very little actual "downtime" tonight.
  • Excellent CASEVAC work from squads tonight! CLSs and Troopers stepped up to bring casualties back to the CCP, doing what needed to be done. This is something that is very hit-or-miss in operations. And tonight was a "hit."
Con:
  • "Bad Frag" incident. Unsure why the medic had an offensive grenade, as they are not included in our SOP kits (intentionally so). Also unsure why their key binds were set up to allow a bad frag. Compounding the issue, when the grenade was thrown, they did not call "bad frag"; they just started yelling, "get away!" which led to confusion and injury of the entire team.
  • Subpar PCCs, on my part, lead to the hit-or-miss inclusion of surgical equipment within the team.
  • Failure of some troopers to maintain a good distance in the formation led to them being fairly separated from the team. When they took a mortar round and went down, the rest of the team had to scramble to try and save them. This delayed care for the platoon and likely compounded with other factors leading to several black-tags.
  • The number of black-tags under care was disheartening. The above-mentioned casualties meant that our remaining medics were spread thinly on the first objective. Having only 1 Atlas member and the platoon medic trying to run a 5-6 trooper MASCAS was not tenable.

Pro:
  • Succession of command. We had numerous cases of FTLs and even troopers stepping up and taking charge during MASCAS's or other situations taking the appropriate initiative to preserve there forces and achieve a successful end state.
  • Platoon Communications were running smooth elements cross talking to coordinate action and make recommendations to MISFIT 6.
  • Comms with Buffalo, reaction to rapid tasking for EXFILING EPW/HVTs/CIVs out of 2 different AO's.
  • Self Aid and buddy aid training has really paid off.

Pro:
  • Extremely fun Air Assault. Great job Mission Maker, Misfit-6, and Misfit-5. Really great leadership.
  • Great comms management and coordination, both intra-bird and ship to ship.
  • Really great flying from Alpha Rotary Buffalo elements, with Nap Of Earth (NOE) flight profile required due to hot airspace. Very well done.
  • Comms with Misfit-5 were great.
  • Initial insert was excellent, with Ground Forces providing excellent 3 sec, 360.
  • Extremely hairy but well executed missile evasion by BUFFALO-1... saved aircraft, aircrew, and all pax. That was tough to pull off.
Con:
  • Only real OP con I have is that it would have been nice to have more aircrew on the birds. It's always really nice to have more fully crewed birds. But in this case it's totally understandable because we needed pilots first and foremost.
  • Con on the comment above about wishing we were "punished" for using the same route. Punished by who and how and why? Not sure why that is valid since the routes taken were deemed safe and while our training educates and allows for all kinds of options, it doesn't require we venture out into the unknown, and potential danger and/or deviate from what we already know are safe routes. Lot of factors to consider here- Line of Advance/Axis of Advance, terrain, BLUFOR/OPFOR locations, spacing, ground threats- AA/AAA, threat levels, Red-Air, Proactive/Reactive/PREDICTIVE, OPORD, etc. etc. Moreover, our training, while extremely valuable, educates us on options .... it does not dictate what we do on the battlefield. Additionally, Godfather's job in official OPs is not to enforce/regulate ["punish"] discretionary/optional training doctrine. This is a sandbox battlefield environment in real time, and wishing "punishment" for doing the right/safe thing is a concerning statement.
