PROS:
  • FOB Defense at the beginning was hectic with lots of action. Fantastic work by the ground elements to engage a Russian assault and defeat it in force to include armored, mechanized and motorized assets.
  • Platoon Movement looked good through wooded terrain. Good use of terrain by the PLT to maneuver around open areas and quick reaction when we realized we were in the middle of an unmarked minefield.
  • Air Assets put in plenty of work with type 3 calls due to a lack of LOS on most vehicles from the FOB, as well as clearing out established free fire zones.
  • Platoon Communications were very good this week.
  • Utilized weapon squads as attachments to support rifle squads which worked very well during FOB Defense and PLT attack. Utilized vehicles at the FOB to supplement fire to great effect.
  • Good turnout this week.

CONS:
  • Unmarked minefield, missed by fill in GODFATHERs and by 6 on review of OPORD Materials. Which resulted in multiple casualties during Platoon Movement through the woodline.
  • In hindsight probably should of utilized vehicles given the amount of terrain to cover. If minefield was marked would of gone into mission planning. Plan was drawn up for a dismounted operation due to not being aware there were vehicles until mission start.
  • Passing felt weird with the massive drop off of contacts after the FOB Defense. Understanding we most likely destroyed close to two companies of a Mechanized BN during the FOB Defense, given reported force size it was expected for more contact moving into Chernogorsk.
  • Miscommunication between Godfather and Bandit 6 as far as when Endex was going to be called.

Element Leader: Specialist Nate "Justicar" Thumper

Pros:

  • Great comms with the aircraft, Check-Ins, Ground Briefs, etc.
  • A lot of contact in the beginning, though it died down later on.
Cons:
  • Only really had one instance where I could call in a correct 5-line, a lot of the calls were type 3 due to no LOS.
  • Got blown up by a land mine with some infantry, while no one was moving.

Pros:

  • Good teamwork within atlas as a whole

  • Everyone in Atlas had fun, good amount and variety of patients
  • Effective triage and assuming of leadership by remaining atlas members when the actual was downed during a masscas.
  • First time for me as an elements leader, was fun & was able to learn

Cons:
  • Miscommunication during our vehicle switch caused a supply shortage near endex
  • Dismounted Atlas element (Atlas ground) got left behind by security.

Pros:
  • OP was enjoyed across the squad.
  • The squad worked very well together.
  • Winter map was a fantastic change from our usual palette.
  • In the beginning, FOB Defense was fun for most of the squad!
  • Movement from the Alpha fireteam was excellent, per the FTL.
  • Fireteam interaction improved as the night improved as we progressed.
  • Despite the relatively short preparation time, the defense was well organized at the FOB.

Cons:
  • OP overall felt rushed due to a lack of direction at the lower levels.
  • Communication in the FOB was difficult due to the proximity of everyone and the machine gun fire.
  • Mines were not effectively marked or communicated, leading to issues.
  • Buddy Team work could be improved with communication and awareness.
  • Movement in the forest was sub-optimal.
  • Bounding with 3 fireteams while one was a weapons team was suboptimal.
  • Aviation in overhead in close proximity to friendlies in the town hindered communication and awareness at times.
  • Platoon as a hole was effectively conditioned by flare mines, which led to casualties when it transitioned to toe-poppers.
  • Very poor handling of LDA could have led to significant casualties had we taken contact on the road.
  • City clearance was suboptimal.
  • Side Chat usage is becoming a prevalent issue in many OPs. Tonight was an example.

Pros:

  • Great comms with the infidel, Check-Ins, Ground Briefs, etc.
  • A lot of contact in the beginning, good use of Type 3's.
Cons:
  • After commenting in our comms that there's definitely no manpads as we were loitering in the area and weren't getting shot down. About 5 seconds later both Raiders were fired on by enemy manpads with Raider 1 going down while Raider 2 lost tail rotor. Zeus claimed it wasn't them...but its just too convenient. :p
