Pros:
  • Good group to hang out with and shoot some stuff with!
  • Coordination in the section was good.
  • Fun operation and my crew had fun.

Cons:
  • Need better planning for convoy staging and step off.
  • Coordination within the platoon was chaotic and the platoon net was overloaded with traffic.

Improves:
  • Confusing communication/orders on Platoon Net at times. (Extremely jammed up at prime moments where fluidity mattered most)
  • 'Talking Guns' could have been cleaner between gun teams. (Gun teams needed to communicate between each other more effectively
  • Banshee route plan error in the beginning of the Operation. (Drove the wrong way at the start of the operation throwing off convoy movement)
  • Some players could not stop disconnecting and had to leave earlier then planned. (4-7 Disconnects total just between our squad)
  • IED planted Infront of vehicles right outside a FOB surrounded by friendly's within 10-15 meters. (Seemed highly unrealistic considering the proximity of friendly AI watching that road)
Sustains:
  • Great positioning, violence of action, engagement on targets throughout the entire operation.
  • Front flip from a Humvee explosion 10/10 survived.
  • Everyone enjoyed the map and had a fun time during the operation.
  • Great brief, plan, idea behind the entire operation. The concept and mission set was engaging and interactive.

Pros:
  • Conducted a coordinated platoon-level assault utilizing bounding over watch techniques, maintaining momentum and security while advancing to Area of Interest 2.
  • Demonstrated an effective reaction to enemy indirect fire and executed the appropriate course of action in accordance with the plan.
  • Helios effectively located and exploited two intelligence sources and subsequently destroyed the associated cache sites.
  • Personnel demonstrated aggressive violence of action and sound situational awareness, enabling effective decision-making and control during multiple engagements.
  • A lot of troopers had fun and the mosque at the end was an excellent touch
Cons:
  • Although convoy order was clearly specified in the OPORD, multiple instances of confusion regarding vehicle positioning occurred during execution.
  • The presence of an IED immediately outside the FOB resulted in momentary confusion during execution.
  • Due to rapid movement from ORP Hammond to the lanes without proper ORP clearance, the platoon was exposed to a close-in threat, resulting in the loss of Bandit-6R to a suicide bomber.
  • Due to confusion within the convoy and personnel dismounting unexpectedly, I elected to move on foot from the T intersection to ORP Hammond, resulting in increased exposure.

Pros:
  • Unanimous agreement that the Operation was quite enjoyable.
  • Decent levels of contact throughout the Operation.
  • Internal movement and communication was good.
  • The combination of civilians and insurgents at the mosque was a top tier, unique experience.
Cons:
  • S Vests in CQB were fun but a bit too numerous. The only casualties 2 took were from repeated no win situations created by S Vests.
  • The civilians presence was thematic but I agree with comments given during the AAR that they should be more tightly controlled by the GMs given their lack of ability to react realistically. I.e. standing in the middle of a street while a gun fight is going on.
  • Coordination within the platoon was chaotic and the platoon net was overloaded with traffic. Interaction and roles of 5, 6, and 6R were quite a bit different from what we normally do.
  • The lack of a staging slide for arm up and convoy really caused some chaos that could have been avoided. This should be in the Opord already, not sure why it wasn't present for this Op.
  • The plan for the first objective and attempts by PLT staff to control bounding along such a narrow line really did not go well. Would give the intent and let SLs work that out in the future.
  • Discipline of Troopers in the squad during the second vehicle movement led to confusion and a chain of casualties that could have been avoided by following orders, or rather waiting for orders from the FTL's and SL. Too many chiefs.

Pros:
  • Good room clearing
  • Everyone had a good time and felt like they had good opportunities to engage the enemy
  • Helios did a great job of being available following engagements for medical coverage and getting people back in the fight.

Cons:
  • Convoy was disorganized causing confusion and delay to SP time.
  • Vehicles should have been used a little more intently i.e. getting closer to the objective before dismounting in open terrain.
  • Platoon net was a bit overbearing. almost every time I tried to communicate with my team Platoon was coming over the net.
  • Size of area to clear was too big for squad with the timeline of the Op

Element Callsign: BANSHEE-1
Element Leader: Corporal Dread.M
7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Specialist Zaren.T
Private First Class Richardson.JD

Sustains:
  • Most importantly the element members had fun.
  • The attendance was high making the operation feel like a fully supported platoon.
  • Use of BANSHEE as SBF and to isolate portions of the AO in a blocking/security role.
  • Challenging 2nd OBJ from a vehicle perspective.
  • BANSHEE-2 on OBJ 2 recognized their SBF position was not effective. They moved to a flank to deny enemy the ability to reinforce from the flank. During this action they discovered a weapons cache for demolition. They provided security while it was neutralized.
Improves:
  • Element was plagued with technical issues.
    • Arsenal causing members to DC on initial spawn
    • Faction issues with map and radio
    • Hold character on a DC was the cause or potential root cause for the faction issues
  • Driver unclear of route at the start. Better element brief should have been done.
  • The use of a convoy net driving 2-3km is a waste of time, resources, and attention.
    • All tactical information other than turns ends up on platoon net. In our operations, 1-7 rarely travels in a convoy from a traditional sense where a convoy net is useful.
    • Our timelines are truncated. A lot of our LoDs are right next to imaginary FLOT, within 3km.
    • We should be "tactical" in most of our movements. Platoon freq would be the main channel.
    • Gives greater awareness to all vehicles in a movement
    • One less channel that leadership must juggle
    • Drivers of non BANSHEE vehs can mute the channel when not in movement.
    • One less reason to scroll into the 60s on the radio
    • I encourage 1-7 leadership to consider using BANSHEE net as the default convoy net. BANSHEE net already communicates the same information, "stepping off, turning, speeds, moving to flanks, etc"

7th Cavalry Personnel Within the Element:
Staff Sergeant Lucander.P

Pros:
  • Conducted both under Live Fire and green security controlled demolitions multiple times
  • Was able to easily get in contact with all available leader elements to coordinate and plan/request
  • Showcased what it was to be combat engineers and the vital roles/flexibility we have to be moved anywhere on the battlefield whether as an infantry element or support role.
  • Great coordination/communication and idea throwing with SSG Lucander and having input about his opinion on certain things to have other insight and take into consideration instead of just going right into it with first thought.

Cons:
  • Small group size made it harder to split priority request's
  • Convoy was a mess/disorganized
  • Phase 3 of the plan didn't go according to the lane structure and flexibility to support Bandit elements in adjacent lanes for clearing
  • Having to go back and force across the AO on foot in contact multiple times slowed us at times to being readily accessible to give support where needed in a timely manner.

Pros:
  • Good medical response work
  • Got to do a lot of door-to-door work alongside the infantry
  • Lots of flexibility within the team and working in the two vehicles with an ambulance and a gun truck gave us a lot of reach across the platoon

Cons:
  • Civilian contact was inconsistent in terms of behaviour which led to A LOT of unarmed civilians getting schwacked by friendly forces
  • Medical mod wasn't loaded despite being loaded, big sad, I love/hate Reforger
