COMBAT AFTER ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: Venom-2
Element Leader: First Lieutenant Nate "Justicar" Thumper

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
First Lieutenant Nate "Justicar" Thumper (Pilot)
Major Adam "Clover" Beiter (Door Gunner)
First Lieutenant Jeran "Binks" Berg (Crew Chief)
Specialist Chris "Hooker" Hamm (Co-Pilot)

Pros:
  • Good fires for the most part.
  • Spicy contact during a bad LZ call, where we landed and a technical was right in our face.
    • I fired a couple rockets at it while on the ground, then finally killed it with a single rocket as I took off.
Cons:
  • TFAR issues, I think client side, I may have to reinstall the whole shebang.
  • Bad LZ call for a reinsert that was under counter attack.

Pros:

  • Plenty of medical to do tonight.
  • The trooper aid/buddy aid was fantastic.

Cons:

  • The radio comms felt pretty lackluster, didn't get much info about the platoon's intent or what my unit should be doing.
  • The convoy at the start didn't make much sense if we immediately dump them at the start.
  • The group names for the different units were incorrect so it was hard to tell who we treated.
  • Had a situation where I was given a grid reference inside enemy lines which resulted in my team being engaged.

Element Callsign: Gunslinger-5

Pros:

  • Excellent work maintaining momentum throughout the OP by the Platoon. React to IDF was good, movements using cover/concealment ensured security.
  • CSAR with Atlas 2 on downed Venom-2 saved a pilots life! Good work Maco and Bryan!
  • Excellent work with Venom flight! It was tough to get you guys on the deck but we managed to get the things done!

    Cons:
  • I need to improve my radio transmissions to Air Assets on 58. I was "reacting" to situations most of the OP and never got the chance to be proactive.
  • ACE reports were kind of lax tonight, several casualty calls but only 1 or 2 proper ACE reports.

Element Callsign: Chaos 1

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Pros:

  • Great Attack on targets given to Venom Flight and in a timely manner
  • Opord was clear & understandable and well thought out and presented the task
  • Very immersive and fun from my perspective
  • Great working with SSG.Hillberg giving me intel as is trickled into task Venom flight
  • a lot of momentum from PLT so changes were frequent and not a lot of "down time"
  • Venom did excellent when they were engaged and went on the Defense
Cons:
  • Comms could have been a little better on my end following the FAC SOP
  • Venoms weren't really stacked up against T-72
  • Real close blue on blue... but did I die no
  • Very nervous about causing blue on Blue

Pros:

  • Great Teamwork in saving lives during the WFW
  • Good job on Maco helping to save the life of one of the down Vemon Pilot's
  • There was plenty of work for us to do (red/yellow/green)
Cons:
  • Lack of communications between Atlas & Gun - 7

Pros:

  • Good Movement - Violence of Action. Opfor created a necessity to keep continuous momentum, we adapted well.
  • Good Comms from Gunslingers 1 and 2.
  • Atlas was very responsive when needed.
  • React to IDF was vastly improved from the week before.
  • Great fires from Venom when they weren't being actively engaged by ATGMs, MBT Rounds, and BMP-2 Missiles
  • CHAOS, for his first time taking the role, did very well. Stuck to me like glue so that all elements were in sync. Lacking a weapons squad our need for utilizing Venom in a CAS/Combined Arms role was made even more important.
Cons:
  • Gunslinger-3 was having comms issues and was difficult to get a hold of at times.
  • IDF was briefed but did not expect it to be that extensive, ultimately leading us to abandon all COAs including vehicles and possible flank air assault. We adapted well, so not necessarily a strong con here.
  • This one I will bold because I feel like we are seeing this when we shouldn't, too often.
Friendly unit mounting enemy weapon system. Friendly unit firing 3 smaw rockets at a disabled technical near friendlies (missing 2) most likely out of boredom. Friendly unit unloading the entire 249 box after Endex was called and the Endex animation showed in the top right of the screen.
