Pros:

  • The numbers were fantastic tonight
  • Plenty of medical to do.
  • Everyone had a good time.

Cons:

  • The initial contact felt like it wasn't handled well which resulted in a few vehicles getting destroyed.
  • Communication during patient care felt a bit disorganized especially when we have two Atlas teams on scene.

Pros:
  • Fun mission with good performance.
  • Great turnout.
  • Excellent comms and coordination with Bandit-5. Very responsive and concise.
Cons:
  • Little slow on the rotary side tonight but this was anticipated given the mission. Some side-bar taskings would be cool.

Pros:
  • Team was able to self-correct quickly and adjust to the SL going down
  • Team based tactics worked well and FTLs were able to sight their weapons on effectively
  • Use of HuntIR to scout and mark enemy movement very effective to locate and mark hostiles on Ctab
  • Excellent buddy aid and medical, whenever someone went down the team was able to locate, treat and move effectively.

Cons:
  • Communication between teams was weak and needs further developing to ensure that both understand what roles they are playing and when support is up or down.
  • Moving through open fields caused large casualties which seemed more on lack of understanding of how to provide cover and move as well as the proper use of smoke.

Pros:

  • Excellent work by Buffalo tonight as always! Excellent to work with you!
  • Squads maintaining the push despite casualties was wonderful to see!
  • Excellent use of PLT net by SL's to coordinate with each other.
  • Excellent aggression on my orders while -6 was down to attempt the push into AOI 1 after the ambush.
  • I got a Javelin kill of an OPFOR Mi-8 (or 24?) that was doing rocket runs on the PLT.

Cons:

  • Second guessing my decision to push after the ambush, but I was afraid of being attacked on 2 sides.
  • Task saturation was a real problem for me this evening leading to some things not being addressed properly.

SIERRA-4 Personnel:
Second Lieutenant Narramoor.A
Corporal Rodahl.S

Pros:

  • Very enjoyable mission that provided: well thought out enemy makeup and size, great lore related enemy movements/placements, decently difficult OPFOR, and enjoyable dynamic enemy actions such as the ambush and enemy drones spotting for CAS and artillery barrages
  • Medical teams worked well between units and remained behind the lines and ultra supportive to mission continuation at all points of contact
  • Parallel communications well utilized between all elements-worked together and communicated to carry out overall intent
  • Response to various enemy aggressions was well carried out, reacted well and appropriately to all contact

Cons:

  • V-4 required Zeus intervention to acquire heavy weapons (2x M240B + MAAWS and ammo) at staging.
  • Backpack radios do not allow the selection of antennas (see Corporal Rodahl.S)
  • SBF position for V-4 ended up being difficult to direct fires on incoming contact from the south of Bandit platoon. We ended up positioned on the opposite side of a slight ridge which did not enable us to get our direct fire weapons on targets that were overwhelming BANDIT platoon. We did however stop any further enemy ingress from the east side of this ridge and ultimately provided indirect fires (60mm HE and smoke) on target which enabled Bandit-3 to temporarily withdraw north for treatment. Ultimately, further consideration for indirect weapons for positions such as these would be a value added to SBF teams. ( we were not told to bring mortars but a late join had brought them in )
  • Viking-4 pushed through initial ambush and achieved the marked V-4 SBF by the time we had heard about bandit squads getting immobilized. While pushing through was a positive; Viking-4 never reorganized to attack through the enemy ambush point and instead committed to the SBF point where we immediately took contact and were forced to emplace and sustain combat with even more enemy. Viking-4 was never able to support ambushed and overwhelmed bandit squads and in the process overextended ourselves into even more danger with less support.
  • V-4 had 1 black tag from a bomb drop

Element Callsign: BANDIT-7
Element Leader: First Lieutenant Sam.T

Pros:

  • Great work from the medical teams given the dynamic scenarios we encountered during this OP.
  • Good comms with both medical teams.
  • Challenging learning experience for newer or less experienced medics.
  • Amazing turnout! Love seeing a full platoon.
  • Excellent work from the squad CLS's.

Cons:
  • It felt like basic principles of maneuver and battle drills were not effectively realized during the first half of this OP. From the lack of a "React to Ambush" drill to the decision to push across an open field under fire from enemy armor, the decision making process wasn't happening.
  • The above mentioned conns led to a lot of black tags, at one point 1/3-1/2 of the platoon was KIA in positions that were unreachable by medical teams (ambush killzones, open fields under enemy fire).

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Pros:

  • FAC performed to a very high standard, as usual with Kastor.K.
  • Great work by Eagle-1 taking down multiple enemy air targets in quick succession.
  • Plenty of CAS tasking to keep Hog busy.
  • The op generally seemed to be very well designed.
  • Supportive and responsive mission controller.
Cons:
  • Radio issues at the beginning of the op.
  • Slight confusion around CAP/CAS prioritisation.
  • Red air and manpads resulted in several crashes.
