Element Callsign: Buffalo Flight
Element Leader:
Second Lieutenant Nate 'Justicar' Thumper - Buffalo-1 Pilot/Flight Leader
7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Phillip 'Pinball' Sparrow - Buffalo-1 Crew Chief
Warrant Officer 1 Adrian 'Bait' Lindsay - Buffalo-1 Co-Pilot
Warrant Officer 1 Chris 'Hooker' Hamm - Buffalo-2 Pilot
Warrant Officer 1 Roy 'Houston' Bloggins - Buffalo-2 Crew Chief
Private First Class Sawyer.H - Buffalo-3 Pilot
Corporal Dio.B - Buffalo-3 Crew Chief

Public Players:
xdxd - Buffalo-3 Door Gunner
Fluffy - Buffalo-4 Pilot
Gab "Wrecker" - Buffalo-4 Crew
S.Spartan - Buffalo-4 Crew
[79AD] Owl - Buffalo-4 Crew

Pros:
  • Turn out was great, roughly 80 players.
  • Concept was ambitious.
Cons:
  • Not much to actually do for 3/4 ships, understandably there was a need for the amount of ground units, but it was only for transporting to and from.
    • Side missions from an Air Zeus would be perferable to sitting doing nothing for hours.
  • Visibility with 90's NODs was extremely poor from all positions creating.
    • Flying approaches and lower level was extremely difficult, as was spotting targets.
  • Comms were difficult given the distance from FOB to AO.
    • Having a FARP half way between would have been ideal, and should be considered in the future as common practice.

Pros:
  • Good turn out
  • Movement throughout objectives was good
  • Mostly good comms
  • Breaking contact went relatively well
Cons:
  • Op was scheduled too soon after CSC (addressed with S3 for future ops)
  • Extended time at base
  • Land nav was deficient in general
  • LZs too far from AO. Preferred tactically but enjoyment suffered as a result
  • Birds on the ground far too long at PZs
  • Lost comms intermittently with Misfit 1 and Misfit 4/Gun 1 but comms were more good than bad overall
  • Comms were cluttered being on mostly one net and traffic was not properly prioritized

SPC.Blade.B

Pros:
Great environment
Members enjoyed working through the new medical system

Cons:
Helicopters took way too long to get off the ground
Overextended the squad and got pushed pretty hard by EI
Response times a little slow due to subpar land nav
Atlas abandoned multiple times by infantry squads leading to multiple times where team was almost wiped out

Non-7th Cavalry Within Element:
  • N/A

Pros:
  • Company
    • Good dudes make good company
  • Theme/Era
    • It shocks me how little of this era we do vs. how much people love it
    • Give me MORE
  • Internal Communication
    • Consistanly improving communication with technical limitations
    • If we did any more of these, we'd be pros
  • CLS
    • Improved CLS mindset of importance
    • Saved more than one person with quick medical treatment

Cons:
  • Length
    • 1 hour to reach first OBJ
    • 3 hours to reach second OBJ
    • CSC happening just prior made the OIC start brief 5 minutes before normal kickoff
  • Platoon Movement
    • Spacing between squad and basic navigation was rough
    • Overtaking lead squads without any communication just shouldn't happen?
  • Platoon Communication
    • Platoon communication was not great throughout
    • Couldn't tell if 6 was down to take Platoon because of non-answers
    • Platoon intent was always in question
  • Disconnects
    • Many with varied reasons
  • LZ Distance
    • Insane amount of walking to objective for reinserts
    • New ones were never made after objective engaged
    • Disconnects made to spend much of the operation walking/traveling back to the operation
    • Aircraft travel distance necessitated a FARP
  • AI Skill
    • Individual engagements felt unfair at times
    • Very accurate with snapping seen
  • Blue-on-Blue
    • Continue to lack efficient PID

Pros:
  • An excellent number of casualties.
  • Decent movement for the Atlas teams.
  • Good MOUT work during the break-contact on AOI-1 from Atlas during the "peel."
  • Some CLSs were very "on-the-ball".
  • This was probably the most cinematic of the operations over the weekend.
Cons:
  • This operation was definitely too close to the CSC. This led to an extremely delayed step-off.
  • KAT definitely lends itself to a lower contact-higher OPFOR skill environment. Waves of OPFOR can quickly overwhelm BLUFOR once players become less tanky.
  • Communication on the platoon level was iffy tonight; lots of folks were spoken over, and messages fell through the cracks.
