    Bugs/issues for S3
Major ACRE issue people cannot access their radio's after they have picked one up in the arsenal after reconnecting.
Stuttering at the beginning was tied to the 4 strobes on the ground marking the first LZ for the air assault and stopped when they got removed.

Pro:
  • Good pace
  • Felt like the right amount of AA/AAA (from what ive heard), I never got engaged myself though
  • Great comms between 5 and inter-flight
  • Right amount of action versus down/slow time
  • Great work from the rotary team all in all
  • Great pre-planning from the BUFF flight, great use of interflight comms channel
Con:
  • ACRE issues that effected multiple people including BUFFALO-1
  • Could have done a couple more resupplies to help offset the slower times
  • Stuttering at the beginning

SUSTAIN:
- Squad internal comms were good

  • CQB was very well done
  • Good Squad movement
  • Security was good during halts

IMPROVE:
- Not enough contact

  • ACRE issues
  • Elements were bunched up
  • Friendly mortars were danger close at times; needs to be coordinated better with infantry elements
  • Leadership comms were rough.
  • B4 moving to contact during resupply at AO1

Pro:
  • Really great and comprehensive mission design and OPORD and briefing.
  • I really studied this mission, so I was totally prepared to lead in our rotary support mission, which was generally well accomplished, despite issues.
  • Extremely appreciative of my BUFFALO Flight teamwork working with me to make the best of a bad situation I will detail in my first con below.
  • Despite issues (detailed below) with BUFFALO-1, Rotary personnel managed a difficult situation. The proof is in the performance and we delivered.
  • Excellent Emergency Auto-Rotation performed by BUFFALO-2 (Thumper.N)
Con:
  • EXTREMELY UNFORTUNATE tech/control issues with BUFFALO-1 (Flight Lead, aka Me). These initial issues were totally unanticipated and couldn't be helped, until discovered after I was already in the air with a full bird, but very luckily I was able to resolve the problem through fixing in-game control settings and refreshing them. This is hard for me to admit, but being totally honest, this was nearly a catastrophic situation with a full bird at the outset of the whole mission. This won't happen again. Just sayin'.
  • Worst ACRE issues maybe I've ever seen. Even with LR 152's in my inventory, they couldn't be ACE controlled, so they were worthless, which rendered me essentially comms worthless as Flight Lead. This has to be a Training Server problem since I never have these kinds of crazy issues on TacR.
  • Stuttering/rubber-banding/server performance issues.
  • Would have been nice to see more A. Co. Rotary participation.

Pro:
  • Great mission design. Contact level was good. Op Ord was very detailed and immersive. We especially liked the narrative of the rest of the Battalion being involved.
  • Infill went very well.
  • Succession was very good when it needed to be.
  • Loved 4 being able to get in on the action throughout the Op. Really helps with immersion to hear 24/7 gunfire in the distance.
  • CQB was excellent.
  • Really enjoyed the hangar building at the airfield. 10/10 would watch Tucker get shot again.
Con:
  • ACRE issues for reconnects JIP. Seemed to cause wider issues even for those who were connected the whole time.
  • Terrain required some pretty extreme fireteam bounding, would like to be able to do that with 1 and 2 but not possible due to ACRE problems.
  • Spacing of elements. 1 and 2 were way too close throughout the Op.
  • Infidel/5 relaying (?) CAS on Platoon net seemed to cause some congestion. Differing opinions on this.

Pro:
  • Good CAS at the end.
  • Good interflight comms.
Con:
  • Seventeen lost airframes, this is absolutely unacceptable and almost shameful.
  • Our HARMs did not track targets properly at all. Because of this, we had to get extremely close and sometimes even resort to bombs to take out launch sites. What is particularly frustrating is that I called this exact thing happening in the S3 chat. see here
  • Our PL restriction was way outside of the lock range of these crap-HARMs requiring us to push past it for the sake of airframe preservation.
  • We were being painted by enemy AA on the carrier deck.
  • New AA seemed to spawn out of nowhere.
  • We almost couldn't get to the actual tasking because the moment we were (temporarily) done with SEAD, a CAP tasking would appear.
