Pros
  • Great Teamwork within the squad. This was truly the only real saving grace on this one for me.
  • Enjoyed the MOUT and CQB portions of the OP.
  • OPORD was done well. Video drone footage was a nice touch.
  • Good concept of a mission. It's something different than our normal assaults/raids, but, execution is what ruined it.
Cons
  • Very low turnout/manpower. We had almost no pilots for an air assault mission. We had two half-strength squads running separately.
  • Execution of this mission concept was poor. Overly complicated for the units at hand, too big of a sprawl for the infantry to properly respond. Moving across the city while under fire to rescue hostages while understrength and injured was brutally challenging.
  • Frame rates were poor.
  • Weather was insane. Our birds wouldn't even be lifting off in that level of wind. I couldn't mark the LZ due to the wind. We couldn't use HuntIR's due to the wind.
  • This should've been a vehicle-borne operation.
  • Lots of running back and forth. We were backtracking a lot, and there was no real clear picture of our goal.
  • 2 Black Tags.
  • Comms traffic needs to be tightened up.
  • MDF turned hostile on us, due to what I believe was an engagement by a MAAWS from Bandit-3.
  • BANDIT-2 was understrength and being overextended, leading to BANDIT-1 being pulled from initial tasking to constantly QRF.
  • No Fire Zone caused problems as we couldn't call CAS when needed.

Pros
  • Got my butt saved by Atlas, after a scary run back to reconnect with troops
Cons
  • NFA didn't make sense and greatly restricted what I could do, I could have had Lighting load up with small diameter bombs and bombs with low minimal safe distance
  • As a result I wasn't able to give a single 9-Line that made sense
  • RHS CH-47F is grounded since disabling the damage on it does not make it invisible like previously thought
  • Initial LZ was tight for the CH-47F, Mini distance should be a 50mx50m, would have been safer to land in the field with UXOs
  • Low Alpha Co Turnout
Side note: I will switch to be a pilot in the future if that is what is needed for a mission

Pros:
  • Gracious to everyone for sticking through it and flexing on the plan
  • Good execution from infantry squads
  • Good roleplay with HVTs and the establishing of US civillian positions
  • Good effort from the Zeuses trying to patch holes
  • Great work from Atlas
Cons:
  • No dedicated rotary air assets, I considered reslotting to meet demand
  • Generally low turnout
  • Good work from the rotary air that did slot in, they did well with challenging LZs
  • MDF (Greenfor) went hostile due to destruction of civilian buildings
  • Infidel ended up having 0 tasking.

Pros
  • Great communication between Bandit 7 and Atlas 1
  • Communication working on Casualty was fluid.
  • Very immersive when feeling outnumbered and out gunned.
  • Great Mission Concept
  • Very fast response times when given a 6-line
Cons
  • Atlas 1 provided great care on an already black tag casualty.
  • Poor attendance resulted in long engagements.
  • Bandit 5, Bandit 6, Bandit 7 were all on one UH-60, not the best insertion of COC.
  • Slight issues with Perms.
  • Never been more afraid to get into a Chinook or a UH-60

Pros
  • Very good fundamentals and MOUT work from the squads tonight.
  • Adaptability was solid, which was very needed for this OP.
  • Atlas did solid work.
  • OPORD was well received, will continue including the "extra goodies" like drone footage when appropriate.
  • Despite being hit hard and often, the Platoon never lost all its momentum. We were able to continue making decisions and executing, which is about the best I could ask for in such a FUBAR situation.
  • The weather effects (excluding the Hurricane force winds) were nice. A nice change from pristine days or night OPs with no cloud cover to make our NODs as efficient as possible.
Cons
  • Turnout was very suboptimal. No billeted medics, no rotary pilots for infill, and initial infantry turnout was lackluster. The latter point was compounded by having too many people for two squads but not enough for a full three. The constantly varying numbers right at kickoff made adapting the plan to fit difficult.
  • My contingency plans did not factor in not having any rotary capacity at all. This led to delays and rapid changes that confused many people and led to no leadership being inserted with initial the initial infantry force.
  • On insert, Grizzly exploded, causing our two main squads to be MASCAS as soon as we hit the ground. This led to the briefed plan going out the window.
All other pros/cons were hit by other parties in the AAR. This is another OP we should add to the "revisit in future" stack. Great concept but lackluster execution for various reasons.

Pros
  • Pretty fun and challenging extract
  • Glad I joined in time to help
Cons
  • The wind was unforgiven, my lack of experience as a pilot made it even harder to fly
  • Got destroyed while trying to land, uncertain of reason.
