  • Really quick death rate (possible respawning while being treated).
  • At least two black tags.

Pros:
  • Good communication and movement within the squad
  • Most troopers had a great time
  • Engaged lots of targets and was able to practice movement under fire and suppressing an unseen enemy at extended distances
  • Mission objectives were always clear, troop movements changed on occasion but we were able to effectively follow through due to point 1.
  • GUN 6 joined us on final assault across the dam to secure the high ground on the flank and assisted in MOUT procedures which is always a morale boost
  • Good mechanized movement with our MRAP to assault the dam. This isn't done often, and was good training having a fireteam in wedge formation on either side as we push forward with the .50
Cons:
  • Blue on Blue at the very beginning from another convoy vehicle, please utilize IFF and PID targets, we don't fight enemies that wear OCP
  • When clearing out designated lanes we found that other GUN units had started securing procedures. Things changed on the fly, so this isn't a major issue in my opinion
  • Stagnated as a platoon in the beginning. Things take time to prep, however we may need to look at time hacks and requesting leadership available 30 minutes prior in order to be briefed in game and prepped to move, squad leadership can brief their troops on the move at top of the hour.

Pros:
  • Good leadership all round. FTLs made work easier and kept things in check.
  • GUNSLINGER 5-6 well performed in planning and orders.
  • Fireteams always in mutual support of one another.
  • Fantastic reaction to contact with a lot of single shot freddies. Buddy teams worked well in accurately helping adjusting fire.
  • SIERRA effective and on point throughout.
  • Good blocking positions executed from squads.
  • ATLAS-3 performed perfectly in their convoy role.
  • Really immersive convoy scenario and mission throughout. Fitting environment meant for a really fun mission.
  • Fast LACE reports received and passed up.
  • Good response from ATLAS and 7.
  • Brilliant turnout with high amount of attendees (55)
  • Good reception to fags added into arsenal.
  • Wolfman joined us.
Cons:
  • Tripod deploy timer and animation out of sync.
  • No sidearm for ARs
  • Intial ISR from SPARROW took a little longer to get airbourne.
  • 240b ammo missing from initial crate.
  • Better reaction to IDF needed from a convoy perspective. Try not to sit idle.
  • Vehicle gloriously arma'd into a river.
  • Slow reinserts.
Well executed convoy operation.

  • Gunslinger-7 did a great job maintaining at least one Atlas-1 or 2 personnel manning and keeping the convoy moving.
Cons:
  • Communication confusion i.e. called in red tags were yellow, yellows were green.
  • Quick death rates (a couple respawns).
  • Initial medical loadouts are WIP.

Private Bowman.B

Pros:
  • Fun Operation
  • Squad comms were great down to Trooper level.
  • Gunslinger 2 took the COP on and cleared it with half strength almost all the way through until sneaky boi got us.
  • Driver / Gunner did a good job reading what was going on. They were either already where they were needed when needed on their own, or flexed to position within a couple seconds of being notified.
  • This is a pro and a con... resupply never happened so we were almost black on ammo (I had an FTL down to his last 10 rounds). Squad did a fantastic job cross leveling equipment so that we were able to continue the fight.
  • Dam engagement I was told was a blast, although I missed it because I was knocked out and in surgery.
  • Alpha assaulted uphill and killed 8 baddies taking shots at us.
Cons:
  • Took over 30 minutes on top of the leaders briefing to actually get the mission started. This delay caused two of my squad members to leave out of frustration. This seems to be a theme with WFW and I don't know if too much sidebar is occurring during leaders brief, but this needs to be tightened up. Another recommendation is to put a step off timer in place, meaning leaders have 15 minutes (or so) in game after Op start to get their ducks in a row before mission starts with or without you.
  • React to IDF was poor with accurate rounds landing near grouped vehicles who weren't moving. Due to terrain we were also bottle necked so vehicles that were ready to move couldn't. Could have been a very bad mass cass situation if enemy spotter or Zeus had decided.
  • Miscommunication as to whether or not a building had been cleared led to Gunslinger 2 mass cass. Note to myself to make sure spray paint or some sort of a tagging method is on hand to notate what's clear and what isn't.

COMBAT AFTER-ACTION REPORT
Element Callsign: Sparrow Flight (1,2)
Element Leader: Warrant Officer 1 Hamm.C

7th Cavalry Personnel Involved in Action:
Chief Warrant Officer 5 Abbassi.G
Warrant Officer 1 Baruch.J

Pros:
  • Element had fun once things got rolling.
  • Enjoyed watching the convoy progress in coordinated manner.
  • Experienced, veteran 7Cav Alpha Co. members able to help a returning player with technical issues/mods/keybinds. (pro and con)
  • Excellent mission conception especially with the dam engagement.
Cons:
  • First of all, with regard to delays in ISR, Sparrow flight encountered several challenges. While we were patiently waiting for things to get started (half hour delay) we were able to help a returning player get some mod issues/settings squared away. I also personally encountered some technical issues to to my recent PC upgrade and had to resolve those issues. Once all was resolved, we were up airborne.
  • As far as re-inserts and logistics resupply---> AH-6 Little bird is extremely limited on ability to reinsert AND resupply. With a fully crewed bird (PC + CP = 2) AH-6 can only physically carry 1 passenger on top of a weapons pylon for re-insert. Similarly, logistics resupply is extremely limited due to weight constraints and available power in AH-6.
  • For the reason stated directly above, it would have been drastically more beneficial to have a single AH-6 Sparrow Gunship for attack AND an MH-6 Raven for transport which can carry more troops and payload. And even more drastically beneficial is my next point...
  • Ultimately- No UH-60 Buffalo element. UH-60 is always crucial and always works out best. UH-60 would have solved ALL of the reinsert & resupply issues/delays. Warfare Wednesday is our most populous day, and Little Birds are best for Spec Ops style missions (160th SOAR Night Stalkers stuff), not full scale ground/convoy operations with 50+ troopers. Little Birds are NOT a viable, practicable, or effective platform to support such a large ground force. For large scale operations, we ALWAYS need to have at least 1-2 UH-60s available and ready. Little Birds can be ancillary.
  • I am in total agreement with First Sergeant Summerfield.P, that delays in getting started has become a recurring trend on Warfare Wednesdays. During the leaders brief, there is always side-bar and sometimes it goes too far resulting in delays for everybody. I am also in total agreement with Sergeant Stetchkov.A about in-game briefings. In game briefings are extremely valuable because you have the map right there, and can go ahead and begin marking it up and briefing almost simultaneously (i.e. multitasking). In any case, waiting till the top of the hour to roll the map and then start with marking the map, in-game briefings, arsenal loadouts, unforeseen circumstances etc. results in delays. Further, for convoy operations, our guys actually have to drive to the AO, which is inherently slower than air, so then there's that too. I strongly suggest we rethink our prep and timing strategy. In order to more effectively plan and execute, I suggest we either a) start leader brief/planning earlier, and/or b) conduct leaders brief in-game followed by element briefings, and/or c) add a step-off timer as Summerfield floated. Any one or ALL of these would be effective in fixing or at least mitigating our ongoing launch delay problems.
