Element Callsign: Axis - Squad 1 - FT 1
Element Leader: Sergeant Hermes.S

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Corporal Reign.A
Specialist Jefferzon.Z
Lieutenant Colonel Lombardi.M

Pros:
  • Motivating way to close the 'year.'
  • Very patient, communicative, and effective Fireteam.
  • An attentive SL reacting appropriately to FT concerns, call-outs, communication.
  • 95% reactionary - which can be chaotic - handled very effectively.
  • Highly effective PUMA, reinforcing weak points quickly.
  • Effective initial objective - accomplishing a defensive stronghold that was solid enough to allow the offensive players to rally, prep, and push to make an effective rush/cap on center.
  • Great but exhausting defense on Church.
  • Garri / OP / AT Gun up within the first 2 minutes.
  • Effective SBF focused on hardpoints via MG.
Cons:
  • AT gun would've been more effective if placed on Mid/Third point.
  • Never had an opportunity to truly settle in on the objective due to the constant and exhausting harassment from the flanking squads.
  • Heavy Focus on Defense / Garri building
  • Would've appreciated spending the time utilized focusing on working with and defending a specific tank than defending the point and placing garrisons.

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Troopers in Command Element:
Private Biggle.D
Corporal Bearden.C

Fireteam leaders:
Specialist Konn.G (Primary Fireteam)
Segeant Major Terlizzi.A (Secondary Fireteam)

Solids:
  • We did a great job of defense throughout, the only reason we weren't able to hold the strong point was that there were too many germans! :p
  • We did a great job taking back Maison whenever we lost it and reaction times for 'Alamo' calls were great on the part of Kidnap (Offensive section)
  • SGM.Terlizzi's squad did an amazing job of knocking down enemy garrisons and patrolling the lines when assigned to the defensive, but also just in general.
  • SPC.Konn's squad did wonderfully reacting to contact whenever it was seen near the point. His troopers were all over the place, knocking down the (please excuse my french) krauts whenever they popped their heads up.
  • Both CPL.Bearden and Private Biggle did a wonderful job taking initiative while I had my head wrapped around the map and the radio. Bearden supported the artillery and built defenses without asking questions and Biggle was always there with a supply box when I needed him and with a rifle where everybody else needed him.
Improvements/Thoughts:
  • Less flip-flopping on what needs to be done on my part. Once I give an order I should be willing to let it sit.
  • I think I need to be a bit more assertive in explaining what I can and cannot do.
  • A lack of numbers really hurt us, but I don't think it was necessarily anyone's fault. Everybody was doing was they needed to do it just turned out we didn't have enough resources.
  • Our section was pulled in a lot of different directions during this OP making things a bit harder than I think maybe they needed to be.
  • Reaction times for deployment/redeployment could use some work. Part of that was a natural communication failure I think.
  • We didn't really have enough people to fully staff the defensive lines sometimes, leading to gaps in the net. In this situation, it wasn't a huge problem but combined with the slow reaction times from the defensive squads which were assigned to support the offensive it made things a lot harder than they would be under normal circumstances.
Edit:
Oh! oh! and I love this new command structure! it's a godsend, please keep doing it. Only having to manage to two fire teams is the best thing that has happened to these OPs since sliced bread.

Element Callsign: Allied Armor, TC 1
Element Leader: Sergeant Sotelo.R

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Specialist Henderson.B
Private First Class Farris.H

Pros:

  • Testing of the tank platoon comms system was effective, coordination between me and Ganske was very satisfactory to me
  • Henderson and Farris performed amazingly, even when switching roles
  • Very fun med armor gameplay
  • Pretty equal fight on all fronts
  • Mix's playstyle allowing us to play and support more defensively worked well for us
  • Armor as a SBF role with the flexibility to engage armor worked for us
Cons:
  • Couldn't break that church hold
  • AT Infantry is a menace to our tanks
  • Urban warfare in tanks is still very difficult for armor

COMBAT AFTER-ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: Allied Command
Element Leader: First Lieutenant Mix.C
7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element: NA

Pros:

  • Good turnout. Particularly for the time
  • Highly enjoyable, closely fought battle
  • Cav operating at a much higher level tactically than this time last year
  • Coms system, Asymmetrical squads and other innovations finding their groove and paying dividends
  • Opening gambit with respect to nodes worked to perfection
  • Happy to see tactical innovations on Axis side played out well. Look forward to implementing lessons learned
Cons:
  • Should have anticipated late arrivals and created third squad rather than over stuffing the two I had. Would have increased tactical flexibility
  • Failed to establish a strong front line presence and contest the area between the two strongpoints sufficiently
  • Attackers should have been a tiny bit more aggressive with the transport trucks in opening gambit
  • Got distracted on occasion and failed to defend hard point as tightly as may be wished. Should have tasked this more specifically
  • Lost. But whatcha gonna do?
