Now that we are back in full swing after the new year, I just wanted to drop a note to thank everyone for their hard work making the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment such a great community. I just closed the books on 2021, and financially it was sort of a rough year for the Cav. There were several months where we did not meet our donation goals and the Organization ran at a deficit. Thanks to the generosity of a member of Regimental Staff we were able to operate under these conditions and maintain a slight buffer.
Some organizations require their membership to pay monthly or yearly dues to be members. The Cav has never, and as long as I have a say will never require this. This means that when you make a donation to the server fund, it goes to support the entire Regiment. In addition to the games servers we rent, we also have a support infrastructure that we maintain. This costs the Cav on average $550-$650 a month. You can see it for your self if you look here: https://7cav.us/forums/14/. Currently the Server Fund has a balance of $6259.45, on 1 March $2250 of that will go to renting the Arma Server for another year.
1st Battalion is currently in the middle of a donation drive to help fund their server for the next year, which as stated costs $2250.00. The Regiment rents this server yearly because doing so saves us several hundred dollars than if we rented it month to month. 1-7 has done an outstanding job supporting this effort. Some troopers have donated $100, some 50, some 25. All we ask is, if you can spare it, is $5 a month. Currently the Cav (according to the ADR) has well over 500 members. If every member donated $5 a month we would never have to worry about money and would be able to offer more games regardless if there were actual companies or platoons to officially support them.
We have troopers that donate every month like clockwork, thank you for that. I understand that not everyone can afford to donate...
