Foxhole - Interest Gathering

Greeting Troopers,

As the Cav continues to grow and expand, we have been approached by a group of enthusiastic and passionate members to consider Foxhole.

The 7th Cavalry takes pride in being a great place to be, focused on MILSIM through teamwork, communication and shared values. For those who don't know, Foxhole is home to an incredibly dedicated and passionate player-base - and in the last four weeks, troopers from the Cav have built up resources and a base of operations for the 7th Cav, attracting external interest in our community to the extent that a Starter Platoon may be viable.

A bit about the game for those unfamiliar:
  • Foxhole is a massively multiplayer game where you will work with hundreds of players to shape the outcome of a persistent online war.
  • Players ARE the content in this sandbox war game.
  • Every individual soldier is a player that contributes to the war effort through logistics, base building, reconnaissance, combat, and more.
  • At the front, it's a top-down shooter with a heavy focus on teamwork, tactics, and combined arms.
  • In the back lines, it's a grand military strategy and complex logistics sim. And a base-building tower defense game.
  • The hook is, in an ordinary game you'd be fighting for "point B" for no reason.
    • Here, you're trying to destroy a player-built base protecting a town you need to capture so you can create more weapons to advance further.
    • You're trying to ambush enemy logistics not because a quest giver told you to, but because the enemy can't fight without the goods in that truck rushing toward you, and the enemy player driving it knows that.
  • It's a sandbox MMO where you figure out what the quests are on your own, and they all really matter.
  • Nobody's choices are initially wrong, right, or maybe even optimal. None of that is clear until the dust has settled -...

7th Cavalry Memorial Weekend - 2025

ALCON,

This weekend we will host a Regimental Stand Down on 23 August 2025, at 1700 Zulu, in observance of Cav-Memorial Day. I am aware that the individual Battalions may have planned specifc observances, or other events over this weekend as in years past, and would encourage all of our membership who can make time this weekend to attend one or more of these moments as we take the opportunity to reflect on the many lives that have left their mark on the 7th Cavalry as a whole, or upon us as individuals.

The 7th Cavalry has never been these forums, our discord / teampeak / xfire or ventrilo, dedicated severs or VPS. It's never been Armed Assault, Squad, Hell Let Loose, , Digitial Combat Simulator Tarkov, Planetside, Insurgency, Minecraft, or Battlefield. These are the games we play and the things we've used to organize to play them. The 7th Cavalary has and will always be the people that come under the banner, that pick up the proverbial mantle, and share part of our lives through the medium of the games we play. It has always been for lack of a less cliche phrase, the friends we made along the way, and in many cases, the family found.

One of the truly most difficult parts of being in this community for the past sixteen years, has been the times we've been forced to say goodbye, to those men and women who've shared our hopes, and laughter, our happy firsts, and more often than not, been the very people we've gone to with our worries, and our fears, who we've sought out for wisdom, or just as a friendly ear to hear about the troubles of our day. Every loss has left a mark on someone, and every name we hoist into Arlington, left an impact great or small no matter the length of time they were a member, or the extent to which they rose within the Regiment.

Even if you will not have the time this weekend to attend on of the Memorial events, I encourage you to take stock this weekend, and reflect not only on the names of those who have joined...
