Situation
The Syrian conflict, which began in March 2011, did not have a single cause. Instead, it was the result of a "perfect storm" of political, economic, and social factors that had been building for decades.
The spark that ignited the war was the arrest and torture of a group of teenagers in the city of Daraa for anti-government graffiti.
When their families and local residents protested for their release, the government responded with live fire, killing several people and triggering nationwide demonstrations.
The purpose of this operation is to establish persistent situational awareness, ensure the defense of critical assets, enable controlled offensive action when authorized, and sustain operational capability over time.
End state is achieved when friendly forces maintain secure borders, protected cross-border assets, and sustained operational presence without unacceptable escalation. This will be done in a phased approach, each phase to be reviewed before the next phase will start.
Phase 1 Recon – Completed
Valuable information was received in what was to be a Weapons Hold Mission.
Redfor responded aggressively with multiple SAM launches without provocation and launched several flight not only to intercept but actually take down our Recon assets.
