Mixed groups of Iraqi insurgents have been using the town of Fallujah as a strongpoint against NATO Forces in the region. Recently, a group of French Special Forces in the region were captured and drug into the town square were they were promptly executed. In response, the 1st Cavalry Division is being deployed to the region in order to secure the town and surrounding regions of Fallujah.
1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment has since opened a clear lane into the town from the southeast and is now preparing to assault the town
