Cons:
Need to provide methods of reconnaissance a head of time.
Need to work on CQB and getting used to using our grenades.
Work on shorter communications in the squad.
i (Lucander) need to work on changing radio channels.
No Sierra crew for Sierra - 1.
Friendly Fire incident, miss click melee button.

Pros:
Guys really enjoyed it
Full squad turnout
Guys running the mortars have greatly improved over the couple of months since MOS inception
Good comms between Loki and Odin
Set pre known fire missions and used those spots to fire impromptu missions
Got new troopers onto the tubes allowing them to get hands on training

Cons:
Full squad turnout meant that some troopers had less work to do than others especially due to Loki being slotted in by troopers outside of squad
Failure on my part as SL to fully control the radio nets I was on, got jumbled up trying to deal with fires net and calling for logistics at the same time
Cease fire called when round was already being hung caused a blue on blue on Viking-2

Pros:

  • Got to get into some contact
  • Established multiple defensive positions
  • Had no casualties

Cons:

  • Vehicle issues involving handbrakes not working
  • Lots of disconnects tonight which delayed some movements/communications
  • Supplies seem to be needed to initially build stuff, but anytime you put stuff down it didn't actually cost anything
  • Kept getting engaged by BTRs towards the last quarter of the Op and wasn't able to get Stryker support for a while.

Pros:
  • Most folks had a good time.
  • Squad communication was good and gameplay was organized.
  • Platoon comms and organization were good.

Cons:
  • Stryker Dragoon gave away recon position by rolling down the hill.
  • Bit of a disconnect still with resupply from Helios resulting in assets needing to be spawned in mid game.
  • Opportunities for individual trooper training, formations, fire commands, etc.
  • Actual and 2IC got knocked at same time in vehicle leading to a gap in succession.
  • Op pacing felt sort of flat. Recon phase went on for a bit too long.

Pros:
  • The troopers found the mission fun and challenging.
  • Crew Command found the Stryker's to be more engaging and rewarding, they are enthusiastic about the combined arms play in the future.
Cons:
  • Vehicles permed terribly on the terrain. Could be mix of vehicle performance and terrain, path driven, even difference in the weight of the variants of the vehicles. WITH THIS IN MIND, I do think that we should train to the limitations of the vehicle in the time being, forcing us to utilize the vehicle in a more realistic manner.
  • The tempo of the mission felt slow.
  • The dismounted felt that we could have used the Strykers at a greater range than we did to increase our stand off better decisively engaging the enemy.
  • FTX did not encompass the Training goals of previous months.
  • Stryker consumed my Driver's soul and could not leave the vehicle.
  • Issue with the stryker, Cannot get into commander seat from outside vehicle. -

COMBAT AFTER ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: Helios-6
Element Leader: Staff Sergeant Blake.H

Pros:
  • I had a fun time during this
  • We had no casualties
  • Communications with warhorse were good
  • Communications and teamwork with Viking were good and appropriately brief.
  • Helios platoon did a good job of supporting the overall operation effectively
  • Transport requests handled effectively.
Neutral:
  • We could have been formally involved with the infantries battle plan as we managed to provide a long SBF for VIKING's assault on the airfield. We want to see more of this type of utilization where appropriate.
Cons:
  • Strange bug(?) with all game master missions that is currently disabling supply requirement for supply on construction trucks.
  • We could have made use of a buffalo.
  • We didnt really need ODIN to secure the undefended supply OR there should have actually been contact in the area so we could have used our infantry battledrills.
  • ODIN should possibly start with enough supplies to either build their own firebase with a limited amount left over for immediate use, then use HELIOS to resupply them. (Im not sure)
  • LRP was not effective
    • Arsenal Truck could not rearm the Stryker
    • We were undermanned and had to leave the LRP unattended
    • Vehicles disappeared because of the above point.
  • One of the checkpoint locations was poorly briefed and placed.
  • Slow turnover on supplies for ODIN, at a point, due to manpower.
