Element Callsign: Buffalo Flight

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Corporal Spice.M
Specialist Crimzon.E
Private First Class Hudson.B

Pros:

  • Plenty of tasking for Buffalo flight.
  • Not too much standstill for us, despite not having full birds.
  • The Blackhawks were a nice change to utilize.
  • Pretty good formation and placement on LZ's/PZ's.
Cons:
  • Pretty bummed at the lack of turnout from A/1-7.
  • Initial CEOI needed to be altered so people didn't need to carry a radio backpack (The modded radios have thesame range and ONLY go up to 68.0!!)
  • I (Hudson) accidentally spawned a cargo Blackhawk and went to an evac with said Blackhawk and it was embarrassing.

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
First Sergeant Couvillion.T

Pros:

  • Overall intent of training was achieved. (Hot LZ not being included is the only nitpick)
  • Peer to peer communication was satisfactory.
  • Modded Operation! Getting back into that true 'arma' feel.
  • Scheme of Maneuver was dictated well by each platoon - PL followed COY intent and were issued an allowance of freedom and utilized it promptly and effectively.
  • Bandit Platoons blocking positions worked well. It would suit us well as light infantry to lean into retrograde operations for defensive postures in the future.
Cons:
  • Time on objectives was too long. A raid/spoiling attack should be concise. Several factors led to this and will be improved upon going forward.
  • A mixture of forgetting vital comms from PLs/Vigilance on my part led to a delayed transport of Bandit Platoon from OBJ-1.
  • Give my Alpha Boys big guns so we can do some CAS! (Get to work Bohemia)
  • Mounting time into Rotary Elements from Infantry not as prompt as it should be after a month of training. > 1min is unacceptable, <30 seconds is acceptable, <15 seconds is achievable and preferred.

Element Callsign: Bandit-5
Element Leader: Sergeant First Class Willson.JA

Pros:

  • Platoon communication was effective in the command and control of troop movements.
  • Platoon effectively blocked while Misfit conducted their assault on the 1st OBJ.
  • Squads had good communication internally.
  • Buffalo flight was quick with response to the radio and was quick with insert and exfil.
  • ACE reports were sent up efficiently and allowed for the proper distribution of supplies and equipment.
Cons:
  • Squads became decisively engaged by OPFOR contacts.
  • Squads need to work on communication between each other and not route everything through the platoon staff.
  • The platoon needs to work on platoon attacks.
  • Bandit Platoon was not informed that Misfit had been lifted off of OBJ-1 and needed to move to the PZ.
  • Mounting the platoon onto the rotary elements was not done promptly.
  • Uniform standards should be followed per the company SOP, even though outside units have joined the operation.

COMBAT AFTER ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: Misfit-5
Element Leader: Master Sergeant Westcott.R

Pros:

  • Platoon comms on point, clear and concise.
  • M2 near perfect air assault infil and move to ORP.
  • M4 excellent SBF prep and execution
  • M2 Punched well above their weight: Assault of a PLT objective with just 1 oversize squad.
  • M4 react to ambush in vics was perfect.
  • MOUT work in St Pierre was exceptional between M2/M4
  • Touched on nearly every aspect of Air assault
Cons:
  • OBJ 1 size/scope too large for 1 squad.
  • Bad comms between myself and Buffalo led to M4 insertion by the castle too far ahead of M2.
  • OBJ 1: broke contact S even though marked PZ and orders said to move N.
  • GM spawning elements behind PLT in already cleared areas (OBJ 2)
  • No Hot LZ.
  • Bandit and Misfit felt disconnected even though close in proximity...like both Platoons were on different pages of the same book.
  • Charlie kit standards for Charlie OPs....and the need for BN standards is apparent.

Corporal Singhal.P
Private First Class Kimmell.J

Private First Class Easy.G
Specialist McMaster.G
Private Adler.L
Private Park.R
Recruit Clevenger.D

Sustains:

  • Good communication between fireteams
  • Good succession of command
  • FTL's commanded their troopers well
  • Good violence of action at the squad level
  • Squad got ready in a timely manner at the beginning of the FTX
  • Great turnout

Improves:
  • Clear radio comms if you have nothing important to say
  • Need to work on formations (lots of new guys)
  • Need to touch up on Air Assault basics for the new guys
  • Need to spread out more when setup in defensive positions
  • I need to communicate with other bandit squads more often
  • Fireteams need to stay within mutual support range of eachother

Pros:

  • Good amount of contact
  • Security was held pretty well during our long blocking position stints
  • Successions were pretty solid if a bit on the spot
  • FTL's were able to get me Ace reports in very timely manners
  • Good initiative from fireteams and buddy teams to more effectively hold our position
  • Guys were able to load onto the helos fairly quickly and we didn't have them waiting on us for longer than 20 seconds
  • Formations during our short movement moments were pretty solidly executed
Cons:

  • The missed comm meant we had to hold security longer than wanted and pushed us back into less favorable positions
  • The helo pickup from the second objective was much more staggered than I like
  • Strange green signal smoke kept popping up when we engaged contacts coming up the road on top of the contact, it was very bizarre
  • Trying to get out of company units to adhere to uniform standards was a touch hard due to how different the standard kits were. Some level of base cross equipment standardization might be nice to speed up that process so its not a full kit rework from what they have saved.

Pros:
  • Great comms between fireteams
  • Lots of contact
  • Nice aggression and smooth CQB
  • All-together fun operation
Cons:
  • Comms can ALWAYS use work
  • Need more spacing
  • Assault objective was a little ambitious for a squad splitting fireteams between lanes
  • Could use a little less back-and-forth direction-wise

ELEMENT CALLSIGN: Bandit-6
ELEMENT LEADER: Second Lieutenant Whitsel.M

Sustains:

  • Squad leaders maintained good control of fires in blocking positions.
  • ACE reports were successful in communicating diminishing capabilities.
  • Dynamic defensive positions allowed squad leaders to adapt their posture to the contact.
  • Squad leaders were effective in maintaining Charlie Co standards for uniform and discipline

Improves:
  • Battle tracking/phase control needs work (don't rely on the BFT).
  • Retrograde defenses should be planned/communicated better before they're needed.
  • Platoon Attack could use training, mainly focusing on the hasty action without a deliberate decision-making process.
  • Unresponsive AI required extensive Zeus micromanagement, making it difficult to stay engaged with the platoon on the ground.
