Pros:
  • Action packed op with tons of contact
  • Infantry punched way above their weight.
  • Hog Flight was instrumental in winning the fight
  • Performance by the squads was good.
  • Most people reported having fun

Cons:
  • Size and Scope of the mission was far beyond us
  • The original intent and plan completely missed the mark
  • Individual trooper discipline and skylining ruined the leaders recon and set us off on the wrong foot.
  • Friendly fire incidents

Pro:
Decent amount of work
good first aid by squad mates and self aid
good comms in squad
good medical work by Atlas
Cons:
Blue on blue by hog
Atlas being on 08 was to much comms with SL's, Platoon, Atlas 1/2 SL, Misfit 7, FAC and Buffalo
Seemed a misfit 2 better choice than a weapons squad doing SBF
Medical boxes needed at start
dips in fps lows of 20fps

Pro:
  • Lots of casualties to patch up
  • Atlas was all over the place patching people up.
  • Lots of contact.

Cons:

  • Comms was an issue. ACRE's LR wasn't working for me.
  • Couldn't communicate with my Atlas elements.
  • Had to scramble to make myself useful.
  • Operation was slow-paced in that we let ourselves get bogged down several times.

  • Incorrect A10's versions at start caused delay

Element Callsign: INFIDEL-1
Element Leader: Sergeant Kastor.K

Pro:

  • Great feeling being back in the saddle as JTAC/FAC, Hog Flight was extremely responsive and effective in their tasking, both independent and directly controlled. I had the freedom of movement and action I needed, both MISFIT-6 and -5 were responsive on short range comms and the cooperation was very effective. Infantry leads were not afraid to call for close air support and the strikes were executed to maximum effect.
  • Mission Control allowed for multiple external targets for us to deal with, all of them outside of core AO. There were known AA sites, two armoured artillery sites. There was a NO-FLY zone south, which when breached accidentally by HOG-2 resulted in ZSUs showing up and harrassing Hog Flight. These were eliminated by HOG-2 with excellent extreme range GBU drops. Then there were several armored (T-72) convoys coming into the area from three directions to reinforce the AO against our assault. Hog Flight spotted them and when tasked, destroyed or immobilized all of them allowing relief to troops fighting in the AO.
  • When the undermanned infantry force was pinned by enemy fire, taking casualties and unable to achieve the objective as planned, Hog Flight executed precision strikes into the AO, removing targets and then screening infantry exfil from AO.

Cons:
  • An unfortunate set of circumstances led to a Blue on Blue incident with Hog Flight executing a gun run on friendly infantry.

For clarification and tracking, this was a cascade failure incident with no particular fault of Hog Flight or ground elements. A Type 3 strike was called by MISFIT-6 on an enemy bunker NE of AO, which was then hit directly with GBUs by Hog Flight. I have witnessed the explosion on target, but had no line of sight to target itself and knowing the nature of the target (two story sandbag bunker) I've presumed it destroyed. It turned out not to be the case.

Hog Flight, being on Type 3 tasking, were permitted by SOP to reengage at will. In the meantime, without advising myself and unaware of impending reengagement by Hog, MISFIT-4 with accompanying infantry elements and ATLAS moved NE from AO towards a hill next to the target bunker. At the same time, enemy infantry abandoned the bunker and moved South, directly towards friendly infantry. As they've reengaged, due to speed, distance and general lack of precision of a gun run, Hog Flight have enganged both groups of infantry as one, causing fatal and non-fatal casualties to the MISFIT-4 team. As soon as the incident was called in on Platoon Net 08, I have waved the Hog Flight off the target and they have immediately disengaged.

Pro:

  • Really fun, well designed operation.
  • Leaders brief excellent.
  • Preliminary map markings nicely placed which assisted with ease of flight planning.

Cons:
  • LR ACRE issues
  • Pegasus comms did not work for PIC, due to ACRE issue (resolved by completely restarting game with ACRE ON)
  • Helipads are awfully close to active runway resulting in risk of inadvertent encroachment.
  • Some important delegated comms did not get properly relayed from crew to PIC via aircraft intercom. Comms relay is critically important when ACRE LR malfunctions exist.
  • Fairly significant drops in FPS several times.
