Pros:
  • Impressively organized operation from the attendance sheet through to the opord, briefing, & execution. Really amazing to see such a valuable and efficient use of time.
  • Working as an MG squad was fun but hard to feel effective offensively because of such dense treelines on that specific point. We attempted to establish cross fires, rear support from afar, close infantry work, and tank brushing but nothing felt to stick. Felt slightly disconnected from infantry and believe it would have been better if we had combined with support squads.
  • 121 shots hit and 6000 rounds sent from Fowler with our focus being on suppressing fire.
  • Stagnated attack without ops or the utility of other classes on a tough point but the realism felt gritty and good.
  • Feel like the engineer role was ignored in favor of antitanking once setup was over. When we're focusing on armor/infantry cohesion I would love to see engineers shadowing tanks. (Caveat being it may have been happening and I just didn't notice)
  • Could be cleaned up/made more enjoyable by combining support, (non satcheling) engineer, and MG into one whole building, repairing, supressing support squad. And/or allowing infantry squads to have an assault class.
  • Artillery smoke rounds were highly effective. Watching them land instantly opened avenues of approach and it really spoke to their often underutilized potential
  • Really cool to see the direction this style of ftx is going and excited to see what it becomes. It's ripe for tinkering and that's awesome because it means it's got great bones

Pros:
  • I personally enjoy the Infantry Squad breakdown, it leaves room for underutilized classes like Medic to shine and also trims back powerful kits like Axis MG42 from oversaturating the field on open maps like Foy.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork with Tanks. We recognized this match (Foy particularly) would flow around winning Tank battles and did everything we could to tag enemy Tank locations and AT Guns early and often.
  • Great job from the team in both garrison defense, rebuilding garrisons immediately when they went down, and pushing our garrison spawns forward as we gained more ground. It was especially essential in an OPORD that limits OPs and it allowed us to hold our ground.
Cons:
  • Unfortunately, both West Bend and Dugout Barn favor the Axis due to proximity to Axis line. Southern Edge was really the only middle point that would have given a fair fight. West Bend definitely is very hard for the Allies to trek the entire 4-grid to reach without Outposts to help them makeup lost ground when they die instead of respawning all the way back on a garrison.
  • In future iterations, I would give the Attackers some sort of additional advantage to help allow the point to flip back and forth more throughout the match to keep the score close while aiding breaking up stalemates. Whether that be allowing OPs for attackers only, opening up Bombing Runs for attackers, etc. I'm not sure the one artillery gun is enough of a multiplier for a successful attack given the other limitations. Maybe defenders are limited in how many garrisons they can build in the middle sectors and beyond to weaken how many spawnpoints they can have to defend with?
  • I do enjoy the Platoon breakdown, but I think splitting Tanks between Platoons is a little confusing for comms considering they rely on passing information quickly to one another. It was a little odd to keep passing requests while also managing the Infantry portion, maybe allow Tanks to have their own Platoon?
