Pros:

  • Excellent OP, very immersive
  • Individual trooper discipline was on point from kick-off to AAR.
  • Good use of drones and Ctab to mark the AO
Cons:
  • Would like to have had a payoff for all the hard work, but it wasn't in the cards.
  • Some unrealistic moments where OPFOR was standing ON TOP of a trooper but they did not engage...OPFOR was a little too safe.

Pros:

  • Great movement into initial OPs without being spotted. Platoon went to ground quickly when helicopters and vehicles were passing near. Identified 2 points of interest based on concentrations of patrols and equipment spotted. PLT identified RUSFOR involvement with the extremist group.
  • Fantastic use of CTAB for marking of SPOTREPS, critical SALT reports issued verbally all others on CTAB, translated to map markers for ease for the next mission planning.
  • PLT was able to continue moving and conducting reconnaissance despite a soft compromise.
  • Great noise and light discipline.
Cons:
  • Soft Compromise. Squad passed in front of a civilian in a field and could not detain him time to prevent him from making a phone call. PLT continued on with detachment despite being harassed by patrols within 5m of the PLT.
Exhibit A: Markings of Chahar DARA. Unable to get into the town to identify patrols of defensive positions to the E.

Exhibit B. Markings of the Qarya Laghi Mosque. Large concentration on the walls of the Mosque with multiple Machine Gun (DSKH) positions, search lights, sniper in the tower. Expected resistance up to a platoon concentration of forces. Multiple Technicals spotted but not marked to the East of the Mosque Position. No contact identified in the Palace or in the military complexes south of the Mosque on the western side of the objective.
