COMBAT AFTER ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: Bandit-6
Element Leader: First Lieutenant Sam.T

Pros:
  • Overall an excellent Operation, good flow and excellent pacing. A very fun campaign overall.
  • Squad initiative was excellent, once the plan was laid out it just flowed thanks to excellent work from the SLs.
  • Great work from Bandit-5 on the load plan, resupply efforts and managing initial actions on the LZ.
  • Lots of excellent individual efforts demonstrating skill.
  • Great work from Atlas flexing to and from casualties incidents and keeping us in fighting shape, despite the expectedly high operational pace of our clearance.
  • Generally speaking this airfield is super fun to clear due to the micro-terrain and density of building in the base proper, glad to be back at it again. Excellent choice from a mission design perspective.
  • Loved to see the enemy actually maneuvering on us during the mission, with enemies that were missed in buildings pushing out along the flanks and trying to encircle and fix us in place.

Cons:
  • Clearance got a little rough at one point due to a sudden spike in contact, we had to double back and clear a few structures (a pro from this was me getting to actually use my rifle as the OIC).
  • Positioning the platoon at a middle point for staging and having just the aviation start at the Northeast airfield might have cut back on some downtime experienced by the second lift, but round trip this added maybe 10-15 minutes to the wait and allowed -5 an d the squads to do some excellent security of the ORP.

Pros:
Team was awesome
Treatment response times were great
Steady Workload
Casualties were spaced out well
Great comms between teams and 7
Response to PEA was awesome

Cons:
Team members running off alone causing team to try and chase them down leading to lead being KIA
Pilots were tped away while under Atlas treatment
People respawning immediately upon being injured
Medical boxes were bugged, boxes need to be check either upon spawning in or before being loaded into helos
Treatments being done without proper training or kit

Pros:
  • Mission concept and map selection
  • B-5 on point with resupply leading to flight time
  • Mission controller on point with helping aviation
Cons:
  • The split off into a BISON was a little awkward. If that is something to use in the future recommend the bird that switches is the last bird in the flight.
  • Flight was short a bird on insertion leading to a delay for a squad.

Pros:
  • Good team communication, fireteams worked off eachother well
  • Lots of proactive resupply kept us in the action, really good work by Geki.T and Buffalo flight.
  • Large kill count by the MAAWS team
    • 8 x Technicals, 5 x APCs, 2 Helicopters, 1x Platoon infantry, 1x AAA, 1x emplaced mortar position
  • Good fundamentals of a M240 support team, swapping barrels and linking belts with good positioning
  • Excellent work by 7 and Atlas responding to lots of MASCAS events
  • Platoon net comms were really good, great working in tandem with 2, Hilberg.A. I spoke a little too much at times
  • Excellent mission file that provided a constant stream of contact, surprisingly mixed contact for an airfield, Good server performance throughout. Great work Fox.Z
  • Great work breaking up the objective in planning by 6, Sam.T
Cons:
  • Needed more coordination for fire like shifting and lifting
  • Little sloppy platoon movement off the LZ and towards the ORP
  • 2x black tags caused by bad luck
  • Better use of spacing could be employed across all ground elements

Pros:
  • Good movement and comms, op flowed smoothly overall
Cons:
  • Being on the second air assault wave kept the squad out of the fight for an extended period but that is to be expected with a wave insert

Element Callsign: Raider Flight
Element Leader: Captain Highman.J

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Dujakovic.R - Raider-1 CP/G

For half the mission, Raider-2:
Corporal Gann.T
Private Seeley.H

Pros:
  • Great Zeus support keeping us in fresh aircraft with proper pylon configurations
  • Fun to get back into a rotary-wing aircraft and get down low and slow with the enemy
  • The objective was no push-over!
Cons:
  • I lost four aircraft and "died" three times. This is a record for me
  • My Raider autorotation and anti-torque rotor failure game is weak and rusty and led to two lost ships that I should have saved
  • The enemy was crafty enough to hold fire or remain hidden until we were in an area where we couldnt avoid being hit
  • I was too low and too slow and too static for too long
Side note for Holiday.T : When CW2 Dujakovic was teleported away while under your care, that was my fault. He ended up being treated while I black tagged out and respawned. When I "came to" I asked Zeus for a fresh ship and to TP Dujakovic back to me. I thought he was just isolated on the ground. I did not realize that he was red tagged and receiving care. This is ENTIRELY MY FAULT, and I do apologize to you and to your team.

Element Callsign: CHAOS
Element Leader: Corporal Kastor.K

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Pros:

  • Excellent terrain, mission area and flow of contact from the S3 MCs
  • Great planning and execution from -6 and -5
  • -6 very responsive on radio to CHAOS comms, very accommodating with mission plan to CHAOS needs - very glad to see! :)
  • Cheeky usage of bunker / hangar covers from enemy vehicles, clearly Zeus controlled - nicely done!
  • Two RAIDERs was a great sight.
Cons:
  • AAA threat described as "just MANPADs" - when in reality SHORAD autocannon and stacked IGLA AAA stations were present throughout AO, leading to multiple a/c shot down
  • lack of CAP / SEAD fixed wing slots where intense SHORAD present and some RED AIR as well
  • RAIDER went down several times :(
  • BISON never got to play as such due to technical issues
  • Had a laser designation plan agreed upon with RAIDER crew that we couldn't capitalize on due to SHORAD activity
  • BUFFALOs landing resupply in red hot LZs under autocannon fire from enemy vehicles and ongoing SHORAD activity (RAIDER getting shot down right then and there) - I applaud the skill and bravery, however an unfortunate crash could've easily caused a mass casualty event, not to mention further delay in rearmament
