COMBAT AFTER ACTION REPORT

Name of Combat Mission: Tactical Tuesdays April 2023
Campaign of Combat Mission: Tactical Tuesday - Operation Swamp Meteor
Number Within Campaign: 3
Game: DCS
Server Hosted on: =7Cav= Tactical Realism 1 | SRS Req | Fox3ms.com V3-18
Date of Combat Mission: 18APR23
Time of Combat Mission (Zulu): 2100 EST
Mission Controller: Chief Warrant Officer 3 Baruch.J

Mission Summary:
Note:
Revised and updated last week's mission based on the previous feedback that was received.

Bluefor was tasked with launching a long range strike on an active SA-5.
To that effect, there was a long range strike ordered on the site, while several cap flights provided support.
Meanwhile, Rotary Flights and CAS flights were tasked with pushing back a large wave of redfor tanks that were pushing towards Senaki. With the goal of clearing the AO for returning F/A-18Cs and F-16s that were participating in the long range flight.

Challenge Rolls:
  • None. Zeus forgot his die

Pros:
  • Mission was well received
  • Overall Comms were very good
  • Slot Assignment/Flight Composition by the various pilots was well chosen
  • Engaging the convoys was very fun.
  • Interflight comms between the A10s and the Rotary Flight were excellent
  • Combat Air Patrols worked extremely well together
  • Great Strategy was developed for the SA-5s

Cons:
  • Some Packages, did not coodinate well over comms
  • AWACs were turning in an intense bank, which resulted in frequent datalink loss during certain phases of it's bank
  • OPFOR airforce was not aggressive enough
  • Great Strategy was developed for the SA-5s

Additional Notes:

  • Add AAA installations for the various flights to engage with
  • Options to make harder variants of this mission include: A Night Variant, and a variant wehre SA-2s and SA-19s are placed on the peaks of various mountains.
  • Create Difficulty Templates, e.g. an airframe that will be "easy", and other frames that scale up in difficulty
  • Pilots reported that the KA-50 is more effective than the AH-64 with an AI. Investigate having fully crewed Apaches
  • Missions should be more connected. In this mission, there were some pilots that did not understand how the various missions being completed were related to each other.
This is my fault, As I should have better explained the plans that I had in store.
