Pros:

• Got to rehearse my coms with Buffalo for reinserting.
  • Being new to the role as 5, I definitively appreciate the opportunity to improve myself.
• Good fun assisting MISFIT-3 with the stopping of QRF.
  • Sent a lot of rockets to stop the QRF from the north. As we shifted from the SBF position we allowed the enemy to take hold of the advantageous position, which caused some problems and delays as reinserts came in.
• Seemed to have very good cooperation with 6 when it comes to communication.
  • Spent a lot of time away from short-range though. Could be done differently.
• Had a good amount of fun.

Cons:

• Lost track of 3 after the SBF was left due to caring for reinserts. Was outside of mutual support, but had the goal of stopping the QRF.

Pro:
Lots of flying and re-inserts
Stayed busy
Great inter-flight comms
Just the right amount of AA threats to keep us on our toes.

Con:
Too tight of a final LZ.
Frames, frames, frames - Really rough while in the Hatchet Blackhawk. Likely caused by the amount of other A/Cs.
Seemed like an infantry heavy mission as opposed to an air focused FTX, specifically from the rotary wing realm.

Pros

• All the pilots in my element are terrific and professional.
• Getting to see so many people from the Fixed-Wing section in an operation is great.

Cons

• Communications cohesion tends to get lost when there are too many people talking on too many radios. This is no one's fault, but a technicality due to the numbers. Need to deconflict further.
• Not everyone enjoyed the F-35.

Pros

• Lots of people from the Fixed-Wing section in a single operation.

Cons

• Full-duplex radios in a multi-million dollar aircraft would be nice.
• No time to arm before the mission started. (Also only a single ammo truck for 9 fixed wing assets).
• F-35s did not call out enemy air assets in the AO.
• INFIDEL did not utilize HOG assets until ~30 minutes into the fight.
• Bad initial mission planning. I did not know which INFIDEL was going to utilize HOG and their location until after the start of the mission. I also felt like it was troubling for the INFIDEL to figure out which air assets to use (multiple LIGHTNINGS with different pylons + HOG). This would be a good area to improve by abstracting away different LIGHTNING planes to INFIDEL and using indirect air commands (LIGHTNING INFIDEL requesting GUB... rather than LIGHTNING 1-2 INFIDEL requesting GUB...)

Pros

• Good communication within the flight group of enemy callouts.
• The whole section (8 pilots) was able to fly during the mission.

Cons

• Configuring load-outs for the aircraft at the beginning causes the aircraft to not be mission ready upon start.
• AGM-88 HARM 88 is not available for use with the F35 vs AA.

Pros

• Fun, infantry well-coordinated
• Only called a few CAS strikes but they were all good hits

Cons

• Comms: with this many birds, need to do better job of radios as flight leader and JTACs. But that wasn't a failure so much as a new experience, we know what to do differently in future. Good learning experience.

Pros:

• Decent MAAWS/AT and 240B action, Fixed/blocked a platoon-sized enemy QRF and destroyed 2 BTR's and 3 infantry squads at initial MISFIT-3 Blocking position.
• The teams were really effective considering we were only 4 in our squad.
• Squad Members performed MOUT really well.
• Good Comms with misfit-5 and infidel-1 until our position got hit by IDF.

Cons:

• Too big of an objective for the amount of infantry we had caused us to be stretched thin and take a lot of casualties.
• Our squad was outside of mutual support from the rest of the platoon up until the end of the operation.

Pros:

• Good comms both at the inter-squad level, and at a intra-squad level
• Excellent FTL performance
• Good movement through the city despite numbers being inadequate to fully clear the area.

Cons:

• Exfil was very chaotic causing much of my squad to leave in frustration.
