PROS:
  • Really appreciate Cadre and A Co showing up to support.
  • Good concept, hard fought points.
  • Quick responsiveness from SLs and squad execution.
Cons:
  • Too much ground with too few infantry to hold it. I should have consolidated more during pushes.
  • A few complaints about Artillery balance with the number of people in the operation.

Solids:
  • We had a solid turnout for the Jagers (7 people!)
  • Our squad worked well together, we held points and kept ourselves alive even when the odds were against us
  • Dalton and Flanagan did a great job working as a team to get the nodes up. Litvin was always at my side when I needed him.
  • When I asked for my guys to redeploy it happened lickty-split.
  • Blade's artillery was accurate, quick to respond, and effective.
Improvements:
  • It might be a good idea to limit access to artillery when we're fighting with low numbers.
  • According to one of my troopers "I just want this to be over with already." Morale definitely dipped during the OP.
  • Squad leaders needed to coordinate more thoroughly

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Pros:

  • Team was very effective. Could not ask for better movement or coordination.
  • Effective use of artillery.
  • glad to put training into practice

Cons:

  • Strongpoints favored Axis making it feel a little unfair
  • May have bummed out the enemy team a bit as a result
  • B co turnout disappointing. Possibly a bad time slot.

War History:

In the first 30 minutes our squad constantly tried to attack Southern Edge from the south. We were met by Corporal Adler.J's Kar98 to the west, an MG42 greeted us from Southern Edge and in addition Sergeant Foster.N rained explosive metal chunks on our heads. Even when everyone else tried to flank from both the west and east, we held our ground. With Smokes, we tried to give the impression we were many, but I think the distriction was seen through after a few minutes. Morale dropped after 30 Minutes, and the switch to defense was a relief.

After redeploying to N30 went to the westernmost point of the map right at the border. There we hid behind trees and shot at anything moving north of us. Specialist Wooteman.F, who said he had never cursed so much in Norwegian as he did during this FTX, was able to record four head shots in a row. Private Petersson.S also demonstrated excellent aiming skills. This part of the FTX was an absolute boost to the morale of the Squad. Due to our effectiveness, the enemy team ordered artillery on us. Nevertheless we could hold our position until we were attacked from the south because the enemy has bypassed us with clever infiltration tactics.
That was also the moment when the entire defense collapsed and N30 fell over the next few minutes. The attempt to get to N30 from West HQ was stopped by a sniper. After countless deaths and morale at an all-time low, we wanted to go sniper hunting and spawned in Mid HQ. We found him and finished him off. Since he had a white helmet, it could have been Corporal Adler.J again. At this point, the opposing team has retreated for the final phase of the FTX.

On the way to the next point, I spotted the AT gun northeast of Southern Edge early on. So we made our way there and took it under fire. After taking out the 1-man crew, we built a counter gun. This was manned by Specialist Wooteman.F and Private Petersson.S, who again did an excellent job, and their fire support enabled my advance to the two buildings NE of Southern Edge. Here I was able to set a new OP where we scored a few more kills near the end of the match and joked about our incredible number of deaths.

Pros:
- Specialist Wooteman.F
and Private Petersson.S have changed class without hesitation, for example, for supplies or building nodes.
- Despite morale at an all-time low, everyone kept fighting.

Cons:
-
Hardly any commands in the command chat - First time SL in internal operation. I thought that I would be told what to do with my squad.
- Artillery
- Sniper

Improvements:
-
Game Mode: Instead of assigning a company to a team and stretching the game over 1:30 with different phases, it might make more sense to have a faster match and change teams. HLL has no balance between the teams. One team always has advantages or disadvantages. Being killed constantly and over a long period of time at a certain point is annoying. A deadlocked situation, a static battle due to the circumstances of the OP. Better a quick defeat and a chance to do better at the next point or next match. Compare Sounds of Silvanus which in my opinion one of the best OP's I've attended so far even our team lost.
- No Sniper if less than 50 player, especially not on Foy or Kursk.
- Artillery should not be banned because it can prevent a static battle but maybe some kind of limited.

Specialist Lemon.D

Pros:
  • Great to work with Lemon. He would always keep me on my toes if he wasn't sure what the current situation as
  • Lemon did a fantastic job as a sniper even though it's not something he does often.
  • Artillery responded well and accurately to call for fire.
  • Good pre-placed supplies from Commander for me to establish attacking garrisons in depth.

Cons:
  • Wasn't a big fan of not being able to go behind enemy lines as recon on the defensive.
  • When enemy garrisons located on defensive, we had limited means to destroy them usually leading to them bombarded with artillery to "neutralize" them.
  • Could have used artillery smoke more effectively in certain situations. I could have done a much better call for a smoke screen, which I've taught on the Artillery course, but for whatever reason, failed to think about it here.
Other points:
  • Spotter/sniper teams were used to make use of the flare gun on this night map. Alternatives for recon with low numbers and not wanting to use snipers. Spotter only, or form a two man recon team out of a standard infantry unit (SL/+1). In a small area FTX like this OP placement limitations don't really matter too much.
