Pro:
  • Aggressive use of mechanized infantry to breach compounds/safehouses
  • All medics performed really well supporting the unit when needed
  • Intel recovered at first safehouse

Cons:

  • Direct action raids/hostage rescues are pretty hard to execute on a public server with less discipline or a more gung-ho mindset all around
  • Most hostages were killed
  • Not enough contact reports ("Contact, wait out) from squads to platoon
  • Not enough SPOTREP/SITREP communications on platoon net unless SITREPS were specifically asked for by 5
  • Not enough communication w/ Infidel - they were an autonomous unit doing their own thing
  • Slow start for aviation getting airborne

Pros:
  • Fast mounts dismounts, well executed and good reaction to contact. Good demonstration of mechanized overall
  • Hard and fast attack on the second compound
  • Effective use of urban tactics by all troopers
  • Lots of fun in the chaos
  • Good leadership by FTLs.
  • Platoon comms from all on net were clear and concise
Cons:
  • SL needs to tighten up platoon LR communications, give better and more frequent reports
  • SL should've prompted better security on compound 2
  • 3 Black tags, unfortunate
  • The totality of staging, convoy and leaders recon bit a significant chunk of playtime into the OP.
  • Some slow mounts
  • Glitch with Stryker VC not being able to deploy smoke led to a disabled Stryker
  • Overflow in Gun-1 brought the squad count to ~15, we had to split the vehicles and it caused issues in management. SL needs to forward these kinds of issues to platoon net
Lessons Learnt:
  • SL to drill standard radio reports
  • Contact callouts are a general weakness in urban environments
  • TacR overflow issues can be managed with platoon

Pros:
  • A lot of the troopers had fun.
  • A difficulty curve from mission control without making it a turkey shoot.
  • Eagle, Hog, Bison and Infidel must have been doing something right as infantry saw little to no armored units.
  • Vigilance on halts with FTLs setting up TRPs and sectors for their troopers.
  • Good communications between the Fire-teams.
  • A few new players whom definitely got a good impression.


Cons:
  • No overflow squad was prepared.
    • Although it can be sorted by Platoon later, I still feel like it should be an SL already in place who attended the briefing.
  • There was a change of plan last minute as to which units were attending. There might need to be a more strict regulation set in place by mission makers? Just a thought.
  • A strategic fallback into a kill zone made us take a lot of casualties towards the end.
  • Make sure everyone has a chance to attend the brief.
    • As this is a public op, there shouldn't be a default to exclude people from understanding the different aspects of how we do things in the Cav.
      • Obviously, within reason. We have MPs to enforce rules on poor and unprofessional behavior.
  • Spawns should be placed slightly further away in order to avoid delays due to miscommunications and misinformation from being in proximity to each other.

Pros
  • Super fun hanging out with everyone, as usual!
  • A good amount of casualties to be worked on.
  • At least one Mass-Casualty incident makes every OP more exciting for Atlas.
  • Good communication between Platoon Medic and Altas teams.
  • When radios worked, good communications between Atlas-1 and Atlas-2.
  • The operation started only a few minutes past the hour, which is a beautiful difference from what starts for WfW can be.

Conns
  • The pacing was highly wonky for Atlas teams, with the first ~45 minutes spent sitting waiting for recon to be done and all casualties effectively happening in the last 30 minutes.
  • Atlas was tasked mainly with body retrieval, which we were not adequately equipped for vehicle-wise. Between hostages, bodies, and medics, we looked at 16 bodies going into vics with 12 seats at best. Trying to carry all of the cadavers during the hasty retreat led to Atlas-2 vehicle being unable to carry casualties during the mas-cas event near endex.
  • There was no handoff of the bodies at the initial safe house. Atlas was instructed to arrive and have casualties loaded into our vehicles. We found three to four bodies and a Gunslinger/Viking team who was unaware we were coming and left before our orders could be clarified via Platoon Medic.
  • In having the medical team load bodies into the MRAP with no assistance, they were 300-500 meters behind the line, with an active combat zone between them and friendly forces when a casualty event was passed down to them. This could have led to catastrophic consequences had the casualties at the second safehouse been more severe.
  • Upon arriving at the casualty event, Atlas began treatment just as troopers began pulling the wounded out of their building. This would have been fine had the movement been indicated to the team. Instead, it just created a delay in care. One casualty was pulled out of the building they were in and was left in the open in between buildings, further delaying care as they needed to be moved into safety by the Atlas medics.
  • When the hasty retreat was called, one medic from Atlas-2 had to be left behind as they were trying to recover a hostage's corpse instead of mounting this Vic. They were thankfully recovered by Altas-1. Decision-making at the moment needs to be improved.
  • The RP for the hasty retreat was positioned in a bowl, leading to an excellent kill zone developing and directly contributing to the subsequent mass-cas.
  • While retreating into the RP, one Stryker nearly ran over the trench network that had been left, which would have killed one of the team's medics.
  • While trying to load casualties into what functional vehicles we had, a public player unloaded a critically red casualty without asking or informing the medic treating them and proceeded to drive away. The medic had to bail out of the vehicle and attempt to render aid under fire. This casualty succumbed to their injuries during the drive back to base due to this delay.

Pros
  • Nice to see an active Platoon Sergeant, 6 and 7 worked well together and did not step on each other's toes, ultimately creating more effective leadership.
  • Great to work with CPL.Ewing.R and SPC.Sam.T great clear, concise, and effective among medical leadership.
  • Individual ATLAS medics performed well and communicated with each other.
  • Operation started right on time.

Conns
  • The pacing was inconsistent. Leading to 45 minutes of waiting in the first part, then transitioning to a frantic pace which was too quick for ATLAS to operate safely. This put both teams at risk both because ATLAS was forced onto the front line, or left dangerously exposed to rear-guard action.
  • There was no plan to rendezvous with ATLAS to hand off the HVTs. This left one ATLAS team trying to gather bodies with little guidance about their location, without infantry support leaving the dangerously exposed to and rear contact. Ultimately, this was a serious oversight which lead to only half of the HVTs being extracted.
  • Infantry communication to ATLAS could be improved. Often, troopers would remove casualties that were being treated by ATLAS significantly risking the efficacy of the medical treatment.
