It is hard coded into the helicopter, they classify the gunner slots as pilots, thus the pilot slot restriction applies to them
So there is no way to remedy this?

I wouldn't say no way, because someone might figure out some sneaky way to do it in the code. There is no way that I'm personally aware of though. It's an unfortunate side effect of them deciding to code gunner slots in the helicopter as pilots.

Actually I may have an idea, I'll mess with it.

just FYI, when you join the server the map will always appear red for you locally until you get into game and open the map.

So the current Liberation file has 4 Atlas slots. We have 20 68Ws in the cav and a fair amount of our regular public players also enjoy playing medic. Especially considering that we've been holding SPs on TacR this entire month this is now where near enough ATLAS slots. Please add a second 4 man Atlas team at the very least.

There are Zeus sandbox mission files that have been put up on TacR since last month for squads to conduct their SP's on if they so wish. Information regarding that was included in the announcement from 1-7HQ regarding TacR SP's for the month of August here: https://7cav.us/threads/22233/

It's much easier to do an SP on a Zeus sandbox rather than the Liberation & H&M files; you won't be fighting the mission file and slots won't be a problem

It's not specifically regarding our SPs. We can adjust to run them on sandbox missions or assign medical perms as needed during our SPs, as you just mentioned.

But when you have other squads/companies running their SPs with Atlas support, it becomes challenging to support the SP and whatever else is happening on the server. We have the personnel but not the slotting. Last night was an excellent example where we had 2 medics supporting two entirely different things on opposite sides of the map. One being an SP and the other being 1-2 squads just playing the mission file.

It also has the negative effect of limiting the amount of access public players have to medical slots; when the medical sections decide to pop TacR and run a medical team, it requires the allocation of all medical slots. One medic was approached by a public player last night with that frustration. We love involving public players in our MOS and getting them involved and learning, but having a single team worth of slots sometimes makes that impractical.

This was addressed in a previous Atlis Hearts and Minds mission file by opening a second Atlas medical team, which everyone welcomed. That has not been copied onto other mission files, however. We would love to see 2 Medical Teams and 1 Logistics team become the norm on all mission files so we can enjoy performing our roles, supporting other players, and sharing the medical system we've all helped learn and expand!

would 2nd on placing a 2nd 4 man atlas team on all mission files. As many like myself enjoy playing medical but then it does not allow public players to slot as medic which also hinders recruitment as well

Suggestion:

We should enable this option.

It has been the experience of myself and many other players during low population that we go to take a town or small village, and then we get engaged by the entire <enemy force> army at once, this is despite being at low percentages of alert/aggression/etc.

Now I'm not sure what's going to happen if we turn this on and then get many players on the server, however I would suspect that it would just climb back up to our current value, but I'm hoping that this makes solo or low pop players' lives a little easier.

It would also mean that lowpop/solo players don't have to run a tank or carry an entire weapons depot's worth of AT with them to counter the eventual battalion size element that counter attacks you eventually.

We tested that option originally when we were looking at adapting liberation. I think I remember it being really aggressive and bad, thus why we turned it off. Something to look at though as it has been a while.

Any chance we can turn on the AI Logistics option? Not sure how it impacts performance, but it would be nice to have during low pop times so we can have some background logistics running while we do more Combat focused missions

On the topic of Logistics, can ATLAS-4 (Logistics) be renamed to stop the confusing comms with ATLAS-1/2 (Medical)?

Not sure when/why the name was changed way back when but I think it used to be APOLLO or HERMES on the old Invade and Annex missions
