Hello, Cav!
After seeing Maxwell.S introductory post, I thought I'd follow suit and introduce myself as well.
My name is Eric (he/him), my last name is pronounced "Grew Bah", and my friends generally call me "Grubes" (pronounced "grewbz").
Steam tells me I have put 1600 hours into Arma 3; it is far and away my favorite gaming experience when there is good leadership and structure behind it, which is what brought me to the Cav. That, and Whitfield.L 's extreme kindness and patience with me. I'm also enjoying learning some Foxhole with Raeder.U in the off hours. In the distant past, I have helped run two different platoon-sized A3 units. I was frequently an FTL or SL in those times, and I really enjoy the FTL role. However, I am just now returning to A3 after a 5-year hiatus, so all of that knowledge and those reflexes and communication skills are rusted or gone. I'm really looking forward to getting into my Basic Training courses here to recover, improve, and refine those skills.
I have no prior military service. The closest I've come has been: working as a software engineer in the defense industry for a few years, attending but medically dropping from USMC Officer Candidate School, and spending the better part of 2011 in AFG as a civilian attached to a USMC Harrier squadron. For a few years after that, I ran my own solo software consulting business. Currently, I'm a full-time stay-at-home father for my son who is approaching 3 years old.
I'm genuinely excited to be here. I can't wait to meet more of you, learn from you, and play some Arma together.
