The Passing of Matt "WAGS" Wagner

On behalf of the DCS community within the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment, it brings great sadness to announce the passing of Matt Wagner, Senior Producer and the long time public face and voice of Digital Combat Simulator. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Matt passed away peacefully on 7 September 2026.

The loss of such a well-known, respected, and deeply valued member of the community has been felt throughout A/ACD and across the wider DCS community. For so many of us, Matt was a familiar presence for countless years. Whether through his iconic videos, his tireless involvement with the community, or the passion and enthusiasm he brought to Digital Combat Simulator, his contribution to DCS and the people surrounding it cannot be overstated.

All of us knew Matt in one way or another, whether through his unmistakable voice, his videos introducing new aircraft and features, or his genuine love for DCS and its community. He touched so many people through his kindness, professionalism, and dedication, and helped shape DCS into the community and experience that so many of us enjoy today. His absence will be deeply felt within A/ACD, but the impact he made and the legacy he leaves behind will remain with the DCS community for many years to come.

From all of us within A/ACD and the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment, we extend our deepest condolences to Matt's family, friends, colleagues at Eagle Dynamics, and everyone within the DCS community who had the privilege of knowing him.

See you in the skies, Matt. You will be greatly missed.

This loss is truly devastating. For so many of us, Wags was the familiar voice we turned to when we wanted to learn. There's some comfort in knowing his voice and legacy as a teacher will live on in game. Operation Wags raised nearly $151,000 to support his fight against cancer. I've never seen a community rally so strongly behind a developer, a testament to how much he meant to all of us.

Rest in peace, Wags. Thank you for everything you taught us.

o7 Wags.

I didn't really know you but I saw you a couple times in the Discord. You were a beautiful person from what I heard.
I am terribly sorry for your family. You will be in all of our hearts here in the Cavalry.
