Summary:
The 7th Cavalry Regiment has been deployed to Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan, operating under the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing, where they have been tasked with supporting US ground forces in counterinsurgency operations. Previous units stationed at Bagram have been responsible for Quick Reaction Force (QRF) deployment, ground unit redeployment and resupply, Medevac operations, Close Air Support (CAS), and Battlefield Air Interdiction (BAI). For the sortie on 11/8, the 7th Cav is expected to take on emergent CAS requests as they are called in.
