Element Callsign: BUFFALO-1

Element Leader: Specialist Richardson.JD

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Chief Warrant Officer 2 Cade.B

Pros:
-Great comms from 6.
-Polite and quiet passengers.
-Good coordination from GRIZZLY-1.
-Mostly successful reinsertions.

Cons:
-Richardson's game timed out during a reinsert, which resulted in a 1x BUFFALO being lost plus 5x loss of life.
-The MOB was very far from the LZs which resulted in long flight times for reinserts and pick-ups.

Corporal Mooser.G

Pros:

  • Maintained ourself in the center for majority of the Op
  • Had a few casualties throughout OBJ North Tower
  • Felt like we were rolling through objectives pretty well tonight
  • Decent callouts for casualties through radio comms through both platoon and Med net

Cons:

  • Terrain was awkward which resulted in black tags falling off of short cliffs around OBJ North Tower
  • LZs were very far from objectives, we should use Helios to clear out sections of trees to give Grizzly a LZ/PZ for quicker infil for reinserts and exfil for completed objectives
  • Radio comms were very messy at the start since we had so many sections on 55 and 55.2 but it got cleaned up and split shortly after
  • The briefing went on very long and had a lot of info that wasn't really apparent (Civvie considerations and the "pitch black")
  • The plan for the platoon felt very simplified from the brief but was expanded and sort of turned into a FRAGORD which probably shifted tempo and caused confusion sometimes

Element Callsign: Grizzly-1

Element Leader: Private First Class Coner.J

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Warrant Officer 1 Brady.M

Pros:
  • Really good flight plan.
  • Excellent communication with Misfit-6 and Buffalo-1
  • Air assets were in use the entire operation, minimal down time.

Cons:
  • Troopers kept messing with the ramp on Grizzly-1, even after being verbally told by PIC and CP.
  • Fuel consumptions of Grizzly-1 led to very close calls and having mishap.

Pros:
  • Got to work with mortars and do fire missions with call for fire missions from 6R
  • Great communication intersquad and on PLT

Cons:
  • Felt like we were floating looking for a place, unclear direction whether we were supposed to be SBF by IDF, or were needed for supplies or demolition.
  • 2x instances of blue on blue from danger close fire mission with mortars on first OBJ. Come to find out the game programming wasn't accurate with the placement of rounds with information and fire mission adjustments. Next blue on blue incident with OBJ 2 was 5 was pushed forward on target where fire mission and clearance was given on PLT and Helios NET for clearance and order for rounds. Miscommunication on PLT net led to friendlies being pushed further sooner than wanted.
  • Understood it was an air assault mission for first LZ insert. but was very long and un-needed for both Helios and Banshee to load up back into Grizzly instead of taking back and side roads to next LZ and wait for PLT to be inserted while we secured LZ.
  • Unclear direction, partially on my end and fault of my own for not asking for clearance whether supplies were on or off, moving forward before OPORD is finished, clarification needs to be made so Helios can properly plan for the operation and request the needed vehicles.

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Major Hilberg.A

Pros:
  • Clutch comms from 6R
  • Channels clear of clutter (for the most part)
  • Good coordination between all supporting and attached elements
  • Great coordination between SLs on 55

Cons:
  • I could have spent more time drawing better phase lines and labeling my lanes.

Pros:
  • Lots of Comms across PLT however SL and Element leads were still able to directly coordinate and get priority messages out. Actually heard SL's making Troops in Contact calls and updating with sitreps at the end.
  • Squad made great use of the terrain. TLs found great spots to position there teams for security during halts and setting up a great OP on the 2nd objective while waiting on the platoon line to shake out prior to the attack.
  • Good useage of 3Ds
  • When we did take casualties we were quick to win the fight and then start rendering self-aid / buddy aid and stabilizing them till 7 could arrive.
  • People felt the contact was balance.
  • I personally enjoyed the mountainous and forested terrain. Its a difficult place to fight and make all contact feel much harder than it was.
  • Squad had fun
  • When we went in to clear buildings the CQB was clean well conducted.
Cons:
  • Still need more practice setting security on a Chinook. Chalk lead needs to assign sides and ensure its set as everyone gets off.
  • Some people within in the squad didn't enjoy the map or the amount of walking we had to do to get from LZ to the OBJ.
  • Lack of C2, or lanes, caused a funneling of squads into the 1st OBJ nearly resulting in some blue on blues with 40mm HE but it quickly got sorted.
  • Lots of detail in the Brief lead us to take equipment we didn't need and forget something we did, (wire cutters). We were prepared to have to fight a large number of vehicles based on the brief and I think we only ran in 3-4 over the entire operation.
