Element Callsign: Misfit - 5

Pros:
  • Great adaptation of the misfit squads to various unfavorable conditions.
  • Really good leaning experiences.
  • Interesting operation.
  • Solid premise.
Cons:
  • Low turn-out
  • Slow-walks while wounded (This can be a real downer when combined with terrain that doesn't enable an ambulance to show up.)
  • Lot of IDF seemingly coming from nowhere (Probably the cove we never cleared on the north side)
  • Land-nav needs to be something brushed up on battalion-wide.

COMBAT AFTER ACTION REPORT
Name of Combat Mission: Operation Scuba Steve
Element Callsign: Raider-1
Element Leader: Second Lieutenant Ratliff.B

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
  1. Second Lieutenant Ratliff.B
  2. Specialist DeCann.A

Pros:
  • Excellent setup and backstory for the mission
  • I enjoy the COIN concept for the operation
  • Raider absolutely decimated a BDRM that was assaulting friendly forces
  • Lots of gun/rocket runs at the end
  • Good SERE work when shot down

Cons:
  • The BPs were set up well, I just didn't recognize that the BP was in a spot where the chopper was exposed and easy to hit from the ground
  • A little slow at the start from our end, but it started to pick up shortly thereafter

Pros
  • Enjoyed the operation and mission aspects.
  • Had a great time during the operation and performing the JTAC role working alongside 1LT.Hilberg.A.
  • Lots of tasking for Raider during the operation whose performance was on point.
  • Raider provided excellent CAS smashing multiple armored vehicles and about a platoon's worth of infantry. The ISR provided as well was invaluable during the operation.
  • Coordinating and deconflicting multiple aircraft to exfil infantry squads all while under heavy fire and directing strikes on enemy positions tested our capabilities and all elements performed admirably.
  • Performed CSAR operations and coordinated rescue of downed aircrew.

Cons
  • Radio range issues I tried to take into account when establishing BP's that ultimately had to be moved for safety of airframe. We also at one point had lost contact with the entire Buffalo flight when needed for CSAR operations which had to be performed by myself solo as to not pull troops away from the primary objective due to low player count.
  • Lost multiple birds to accurate enemy ground fire.
  • Missed LZ's that ultimately led to a nice hike through the woods. Kept losing track of 6 however who somehow managed to be both everywhere at once and nowhere anyone could find him within the dense foliage. Excellent camouflage skills. Recommended issuing a bell or high vis vest.

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Staff Sergeant Mazinski.H
Sergeant Winters.R
Specialist Yeo.N
Private First Class Faldt.M

Private First Class Webbel.R
Private Johnsen.M

Pros:
  • Great fun
  • A lot of tasking for individual teams.
  • Good turnout by Helios
  • A lot of good communication, both in between Platoons and squads.
Cons:
  • 6 is required for the amount of Helios troopers we have arrived.
    • Helios 2 was applied day-of, or day before, so it's excused.
    • Guidelines for use of Helios have been pushed to BN and S3.
  • Convoy was a little lacklustre.
  • VOIP is giving some people a hard time with demon voices

Element Leader:
Staff Sergeant Borenstein.B

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Sergeant Turner.L
Specialist Russell.JG
Private First Class Nance.T
Specialist Crimzon.E
Specialist Westwood.J

Pros:
  • Cool Operation
  • Appreciated it wasn't scaled down due to low turn out
  • MISFIT Air Assault OP
  • Good map. Great frames. Great location
  • Great planning
Cons:
  • Low turn-out turned a great plan into a meat grinder
  • Undersized squad led to 3 2 man fireteams which is mini corps not really what we teach or practice.. Especially wasn't easy to have one be a dedicated 240 gun team; only 1 FTL in squad.
  • Thanks for changing the time of day during the OP... it was getting darker when I'd zoom in.
