Pros:
  • Squad and team did exactly what was practice during the month.
  • Lots of soldiers followed the plan and did not bunched up.
Cons:
  • Might have been too many team kills.
  • Had to tone down comms as a whole because I couldn't even hear footsteps near me.
  • Our squad leader had to step down because his connexion kept fluctuating too much so I stepped up.

Great FTX, had an absolute blast.

Got to witness the strategic genius of SGT.Wagner.D getting the truck stuck on a wire on the bridge to customs. Sun Tzu would have been absolutely baffled.

Highlights were definitely when our squad set up at the line on customs and we absolutely blasted like 15 or so people from the enemy team with a barrage of AT and MG. Squad was great, comms were great. No complaints.

Pros:
  • Everyone loved the no tags
  • We worked great and was very flexible
  • Great callout on enemy and friendly movement
  • Swarmed Customs and took it really fast
  • Enemies made them easy to see with all white uniforms
Cons:
  • Miscommunication about who is redeploying back to town center
  • It seemed that it took us a little bit of time to change plans when we got bogged down

Pros:
  • Pings we extremely useful. My team found a new respect for how important an SL is in regards to updating map with pings during the flow of the match.
  • The NO-Nameplates was enjoyable it made it more immersive for the whole squad to utilize all forms of communication, as well as made the game more challenging.
  • Communications were great across all squad members. This ensured my squad deterred the enemies entire push to the south rendering it ineffective, utilizing just a 6 man squad.

Cons:
  • Getting shot while holding grenades' caused multiple team kills due to reaction time and close squad cohesion.
  • The initial FTX slides for the pre-brief were unclear. Recommend utilizing the same format across all operations to simplify directions and cause less confusion.
  • Due to the previous "CON" we were unsure if we were required to defend or to reinitiate a push on center point until there was 12 minutes left in the game.

Pros:
  • Our platoon rarely gets the opportunity to coordinate, plan an event, and all play together in an official FTX. To be able to choose the map, the tag off rules, and finally implement the training that our guys have put in all month during the section practices leading up to this, I couldn't be happier. We had 31 out of 33 of our platoon in attendance which is the highest I've seen from our guys in any official FTX during my 2 years here. I thank everyone involved for setting this up and giving our guys the chance to run this during our time slot. The troopers in our platoon are a mix of hard workers and family people, and have really busy schedules in real life, so for a few of the troopers in the platoon this was their first official FTX ever, and for a lot of them it was their first chance to get op credit in a very long time, so despite the strange time slot, I again thank everyone who participated in this event and made this possible.
  • This was my first time as a Commander during an official FTX. All of our Squad Leads followed the Battle Plan that was given to them this morning before the FTX to the best of their abilities and should all be very proud in how they adapted to new obstacles on the fly. I'd also like to personally thank Cpl.Laroche for stepping up and filling in as an infantry Squad Lead mid event when one of our guys was having internet trouble.
  • Customs and Town Center were cleared and Town Center was fortified just as our guys had practiced. Pumping Station was the only area we struggled and it was because we never practiced attacking that point and we chose to temporarily allocate all our engineer squads on fortifying Town Center which caused the attack on Pumping Station to start off slow, but paid off in the end.
  • Despite comms being hectic at times their was a lot of good communication throughout the match as well.
  • Enemy armor was consistently called out, marked, and relayed to the rest of the teams long before they reached the active hardpoint every time leading to multiple enemy tank kills.
  • Our armor team did a phenomenal job listening to commands, reacting to contact, and moving to handle threats where we needed them to.
  • Our spotters did an amazing job constantly putting flares up and relaying where the enemy infantry was coming from and it allowed the rest of our squads to react accordingly.
  • The Tag Off Victory Condition - Both teams had a combined total of 86 TKs. 45-Axis and 41-Allies. So a solid good game to the enemy team and honestly not as many TKs as I was expecting, I feel like I've seen pub matches with tags on with more teamkills. The oops all snow camo was an interesting play from the opposing team, our guys started getting more kills, but the Allies had less teamkills because of it. Our team had at least 6 TKs from friendly armor and 9 from friendly satchels making up a third of our TKs. I had 1 teamkill from a strafing run and a lot of the guys in my platoon had no teamkills at all so I'd say the practices somewhat paid off.
Cons:
  • I've been on LOA for the last 2 weeks and made the attack plan hastily overnight using edited slides from our platoons section practices from the last month. In doing so I forgot to double check and add the asset restrictions from the OPORD. I ended up sending a recon plane over Customs early on when I wasn't suppose to, stopped mid match and reread the OPORD for a minute and called off a Heavy tank before it could leave our lines and do any damage. I'll take responsibility for both of those incidents. I was pretty hesitant and conservative on using command abilities for the rest of the match after that.
  • I made a bad call when communicating which squads were to defend or redeploy from Pumping Station once it was captured. The idea was never to hold it, but capture it, have all our combat engineer teams retreat to Town Center and have our few infantry teams stay at Pumping Station and stall there as long as possible. I told everyone to redeploy the moment we captured it in the heat of the moment when a couple of our infantry teams were suppose to stay. My guys responded to the orders they were given quickly and should be praised for that, the bad call was on me.

Pros:
  • Mr. Cameron's response, and I quote, was: "I loved it—no negatives."
  • I must confess, it was the finest kill/death ratio I have ever achieved in a Cav operation - 1.89, with no less than 36 confirmed eliminations. Now, let us not fall prey to the illusion that I was simply having an extraordinary day. No, no. Rather, the enemy failed - catastrophically - to look skyward, or they were what one might call "baby seals," wide-eyed and unaware.
  • The opposing team's attire - a curious but delightful choice of white uniforms- played entirely into our hands. For me - a crayon muncher - this proved most useful, making target acquisition as effortless as plucking ripe fruit from a low-hanging branch.
  • The command chat was pristine. Not a breath of unnecessary chatter. Just silence and precision. Quite like a well-oiled bolt-action rifle.
  • And Mr. Cameron? Ah, a true marksman. One glance at the scoreboard tells the entire story. An artist in the fine tradition of deadly accuracy.
Cons:
  • The "no name tags" rule? A nightmare. Every single kill had to be confirmed via the map - a tedious ritual that robbed each moment of its immediacy. Granted, the enemy's snowy wardrobe alleviated some of this strain, but still it grated on the nerves like sand in one's boot.
  • The reconnaissance teams, poor souls, rendered utterly toothless by the rules. Reduced to mere flare-throwers, their true potential squandered. Naturally, to maintain the purity of the experience, I only read the Axis OPORD. After what felt like a quarter of an hour fruitlessly scouring for garrisons, it was Mr. Cameron who enlightened me: the enemy had just one, and - how quaint - was forbidden from rebuilding it.

Pro's

  • Comms had a few sticky moment but were over all solid on call outs
  • Infantry did a good job helping keep tanks up, didn't complain about TK's which helped keep comms clear
  • No tags is lots of fun, would love a different map for it next time
Cons
  • Make sure OPORD is clear on each phase what is and is not allowed

Pros:

  • Incredibly grateful to have had an Operation at The same time as 2nd Platoons regular SP time. This allowed for multiple members of our platoon to receive operation credit for the first time (or in years)
  • To be able to practice within a dialed Training Plan, and then execute on the mainstage with almost all of those who trained was incredibly rewarding
  • I could not be prouder of my troopers and their NCOs for training hard, planning together, coming up with new strategies/tactics, and putting them all in place. Great Showing all!
  • Absolutely loved running an entire operation without tags, in fact I enjoyed it so much that during pub matches I no longer run tags at all. Immersion is incredibly refreshing when you've thought about the game so much that it only seems to be columns of green numbers
  • Appreciative of all who showed up, bought into the immersion, and played their hearts out
Cons:
  • OPORD left some aspects of clarity in the dark. Unique ideas are always welcome in my books but remaining closer to standardized cav opord templating could be beneficial
  • A timer on the cap of pumping station to allow for a deeper final fight for midpoint could made things smoother
  • Overall removing some nerfs from the Allied side would have made for a grittier experience that felt more balanced
