Pros:

  • Excellent work by all during the entire operation
  • Communications inside the aircraft were fantastic
  • Buffalo-1 engaged and destroyed 4 BTRs and several light vehicles.
  • Buffalo-1 engaged an MI-8 and did a dogfight with them. The MI-8 was KIA in conjunction with the rest of the aviation element and ground forces.
  • Buffalo-1 was damaged a few times and the crew of the aircraft recognized and reacted to damage appropriately.
  • Landing at base during emergencies were done well with good coordination with crew members and other aviation
  • Overall a fun time was had by all
Cons:
  • A little disorganized at first but the flow started to make sense
  • Deconflict with other aviation was also lacking, individual effort to avoid collisions needs to be trained and drilled on
  • Radios are still difficult to manage, I had three radios and did not actively assign radio roles to crew members

Element Callsign: BUFFALO-2
Element Leader: Private First Class Hudson.B

Lieutenant Colonel Beiter.A
Private First Class Hudson.B
Private First Class Kovacic.C
Private Rockwell.D

Pros:
  • Well organized OP. This one took off and overall ran much smoother than the last PvE OP, and it was very, very fun.
  • Plenty of tasking was requested for BUFFALO flight. This was a lot of fun and amazing to see.
  • Communications between ground/Pegasus and Pegasus/buffalo flight was very well done and coordinated.
  • HELIOS seemed to be well organized as well, and it was very enjoyable to fly in supplies to their last FOB with the tight landing zone.

Cons:
  • In my opinion, there weren't any cons that I can think of for this operation. Only thing is maybe... I wanted to play longer!!
  • I will piggyback off of Ratliff that the radios do pose a problem at times with the lack of range.
  • With no FAC course/training in Reforger yet, deconfliction is up to pilots which just adds to the workload of navigating/communicating/aviating, but this isn't a huge deal IMO
  • More/better use of smoke would be helpful for marking targets for CAS. Additionally, the use of M203 Smoke Grenades for range could be a huge benefit as well [Comment by DG]

(Potentially more to add as my crew submits their AAR thoughts to me)

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Specialist Casey.W
Private Henry.T

Pros:
  • The start was much smoother than before, rolling passwords, auto gen radios and the simplified squad groupings was the move.
  • great objective density and difficulty, awesome use of additional assets to enhance areas for the operation.
  • good use of operational tempo, we completed our objectives within a reasonable time frame.
Cons:
  • No VoIP UI
  • No Radio Transmission UI
  • Folks crashing did not return to their characters instead they respawned.
  • Humvees with our spare ammo and equipment despawned resulting in viking 3 not having some equipment during objectives.
  • Reorg operations were subpar with the assets. (no arsenal trucks)
Suggestions:
  • Utilize an Arsenal Truck.

Pro's:
  • Big improvement in coordination at start
  • OP was fun for logi

Con's:
  • One PRC-77 per squad might be needed for logi / radio's where not working as they should.
  • We should consider info-graphics for simple things like moving supply.

Pros:
  • A lot of fun, definitely a blast!
  • Good planning, briefing and execution
  • High attendance, all Helios slots were taken
  • Good balance between logistics duties and engagement with enemies
  • OP kicked off on time
  • Observed public players interacted well with the rest of the cav
Cons:
  • Some minor technical difficulties
  • Honestly, nothing else on my end. This was a prime example for a high-quality OP on all levels I observed

SUSTAINS:
Highly motivated troopers
Active security postures
Excellent CQB and MOUT
Thorough communication and active mission development by Viking-6 and those that covered down when he done did died
Fantastic first op for several troopers. Well made, contact had pressure but never anything crazy

IMPROVES:
Squad C2 is a bit awkward at times w/ 6 man squads and dual tasking as SL/FTL
Squad formations were loose at best (this is on me)
Spacing got tight when troopers got uncertain
Fumbling between squad/platoon radios diluted comms clarity
Step off to Pierres Pass felt long
3rd Person Enabled

Pros:

  • Coordination within the squad and the platoon as a whole was excellent
  • Beginning was much more organized than last PVE
  • Set squad roles within our squad was a plus and had the squad ready for any scenario
Cons:
  • Waiting on orders and then it turning into a hurry up scenario
  • Need more BRCC's for our guys to understand what's being said

Element Callsign: Viking-5
Element Leader: Master Sergeant Westcott.R

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Specialist Molitor.K

Pros:
  • Staging area was 200% improved. Brief to step off went as smooth as it really could have.
  • Excellent work with Buffalo flight tonight....despite comms issues the stuff just got done!
  • Viking platoon was on point tonight, but special shout out to Viking-4 for exceptional work.
  • Helios was quick with establishing the LRPs
Cons:
  • Some server packet loss coupled with VON issues.
  • 2 minute respawn timer then having to wait for re-insertion was a bit much.
  • Lack of stereo adjustable comms (putting a certain net on either L or R ear) leads to a lot of comms confusion.
Notes:

  • Consider attaching 1x Buffalo to Helios for supplies/reinserts
  • Push A2G to Pegasus if they are going to be in OPs, especially as convoy OPs will lean heavily on -5.
  • V-5 to Helios comms could be much improved...

Element Callsign: Pegasus
Element Leader: Second Lieutenant Davis.D

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Pros:
  • Communication was excellent between Pegasus and Buffalo flight
  • As a first time Pegasus, I had a lot of fun and a lot of the buffalo flight members had fun
  • Air to ground was excellent and tasking was fluid causing almost NO down time.
  • No birds were lost during the op as pilots and crew members recognized their situations
  • Step off and lift off were very short and great to see especially when getting use to a new game for PVE
  • Designated buffalo flights with tasking between CAS, Flex, and logistics and reinserts
  • Felt Pegasus was better in the air to see what's happening and relay it faster to plt lead elements
Cons:
  • Some server packet loss cause some rubber banding
  • Blue on Blue incident when called in, lack of friendly and enemy mark methods used could've prevented it
  • Respawn points were moved, and buffalo flight was unaware until called in for reinserts
  • Radio comms between Helios and Pegasus lacked and led to supplies running low at last obj
  • Having a DG and CC slot prevented the 3rd buffalo from being an unarmed buffalo allowing it to be used for full logistics capability

Pros:

Cons:

Pros:
  • Really fun
  • Great having Pegasus on flight
  • Crew worked well together
Cons:
  • When setting an LZ don't place it where we have to hover at 100 feet and then come down
  • Wish radio com's weren't as spotty
