Element Callsign: Sparrow-4
Element Leader: Warrant Officer 1 Hamm.C

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Specialist Whitfield.L

Pro:

  • Operation concept was good.
  • Dagrs/Hellfires/APKWS > Hydras since they allow the co-pilot the ability to fire a precision weapon instead of just scoping/acquiring/lazing.
  • Specialist Whitfield.L did an outstanding job of utilizing scope and only using the laser designator when necessary to avoid confusing/conflicting lases/paints. He also did a superior job working in the symbiotic teamwork relationship between pilot + co-pilot/gunner, assisting with navigation and most importantly expressing to the pilot what attitude/speed/altitude/aspect he needed for successful target acquisition/prosecution/engagement.

Cons:
  • Comms were way too convoluted resulting in a mish-mosh of confliction and inability for some units to key up to respond. Comms should be kept pithy and with brevity in mind- especially when we do all-air assets FTXs.
  • Default loadouts need to be updated. Specifically to include tool kits and ear plugs. I would also suggest that LR 152s be the primary radios by default load-out. Rotary barely ever uses 343s and if the terrain distance is an issue, they can always either pick up a 117 or use the one built in the bird.
  • Tool kits should be included in default loadouts for repairs and so pylon configuration can be made in a much more expeditious manner. Quite a bit of unnecessary time was spent on pylon loadouts.
  • Clearly, we need to revisit formation flying and proceed with some enhanced/additional training or remedial training/SPs dedicated to that topic.

Private First Class Otakar.D

Pro:

  • Well designed op for the assets we had
  • Flights performed well in conducting ISR/attack runs

Cons:
  • Some preset loadout may need updating (attack rotary), was missing thing such as earplugs/toolkits etc..
  • ACRE
  • Fixed wing spam at the start impacting rotary operations
  • Found 02 was very cluttered even with only the rotary operating on it. May have been better to just have Air Command on 02, with seperate flight nets (rotary/fw) on different, separate channels.
  • Flight was slow to get organised at some poiints
