Element Callsign: Atlas-1

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Private Pierce.JA
1st Lieutenant Sam.T

Pros:

  • We were quick and efficient when dealing with casualties.
  • Communication between medics during treatment was fantastic.
  • The CLS care was great tonight, was given stable patients multiple times.
  • CCP Rotations and updates.

Cons:

  • Had only one black tag that happened because of a lack of compressions, so communication just needs to improve a bit.
  • Forgot to call clear when shocking a patient.
  • My radio etiquette just needs improvement.
  • The convoy felt a bit sloppy as we went along, we weren't keeping the spacing at times.

Element Callsign: VIKING-5
Element Leader:
First Lieutenant Narramoor.A

Non 7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Discharged: Corporal York.K

Pros:
  • I was at task capacity
  • Medics did a fantastic job with CCPs and line dispatch
  • Infantry did well through the objectives
  • It was fun rolling with York.K, hope he comes back to do this more frequently!
  • Communications with Buffalo was VERY good
  • Mission planning was very good with Viking-6
  • Everyone felt like they were on their A-game tonight
Cons:
  • I was at task capacity
  • I made a poor judgement trying to get Buffalo-1 on the deck at the last objective, caused Buffalo flight to get downed.
  • A couple of moments where there was a lapse of security by infantry
  • Large volume of continuous IDF made it difficult to find LZs for Buffalo

COMBAT AFTER ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: VIKING-7
Element Leader: Specialist Winters.R

Pros:
  • Good action, fun operation
  • Good response times from ATLAS-1
  • Use of CCPs being used to manage and treat causalities
  • Lots of calls with VIKING-7 being near the action to pick up, listen for or find casualties
  • Good medical net and platoon net communications
  • Good patient hand offs
  • Convoy was good
Cons:
  • Mistake by me not being on 122 at beginning. Missed that frequency
  • ATLAS-1 stretched to capacity with calls coming in. Provided supplement care as medic
  • Communications overload at the beginning due to me needing to be a driver on convoy net

Element Callsign: Viking-6
Element Leader:
Second Lieutenant Rodahl.S

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:
Corporal Shepard.S
Specialist Bryan.R

Pros:
  • Good pace on the step off. The convoy was rolling +0017.
    • I think we need a way of dealing with late-joiners so that we don't have the platoon waiting for just one guy to sort out his radios or get his kit. This could be done by having an initial LZ around the dismount, should mission parameters allow, and giving Transport rotary an early run for their money.
  • Great inclusion of assets along the route. It really keeps it immersive for the guys running the convoy and sets the scene.
  • Good trigger discipline. ROE was kept intact.
  • Immersive actions by Zeuses on objectives. The Garrison and Task Reset combo is a fantastic way of giving a challenge to infantry approaching a compound. Milage may vary for when infantry has a line of sight to the target though.
  • Great use of CCPs. Squads were using CASEVAC to get their casualties greened up.
  • Appropriate use of Mortars, both friendly and enemy.
    • Although there was a LOT of enemy mortar positions, they were channelled.
    • Great use of suppression and smoke with Mortar.
  • Great work done by vehicles, although I was not privy to their CEOI, it sounded like they had fun.
  • Excellent Communications on Platoon net. There is room for initiative on ACE reports, SITREPs and SPOTREPs so they don't have to be dragged out of the SLs.
  • From Sierra-6
    • Fun
    • Nice layout by mission maker
    • Comms were good
    • Vehicle net was utilised well
    • Contact was very high
Cons:
  • Ambiguous intent by Viking 6 on the OPORD caused delays in manoeuvres.
    • OPORD included a CLEAR tasking where it should have been a GUARD tasking.
    • This caused the Platoon to have a frontline with high pressure on single points.
  • Radio nets were a bit off in phase one, but it was rectified on the fly, as we were moving.
  • We had Sparrow 1 revealing the position of the convoy during movement.
    • It's cool for the initial step off, but we can't have them hovering over as we approach the objective.
  • Sierra 6 felt like a wildcard element and was pretty much FRAGO'ed al the way.
  • OPORD indicated a platoon objective with a Battalion reinforced enemy presence.
    • This OBJ is too big for what a platoon with reinforced assets can deal with comfortably.
    • Affording flexibility is good for the variable attendance, but there has to be a limit within reason.

COMBAT AFTER ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: SPARROW-1
Element Leader: Warrant Officer 1 Hamm.C "Hooker"

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Spin.M "Randy"
Major Highman.J "Dumbo"

Pros:
  • We enjoyed the OP.
  • SPARROW-1 team had immaculate comms between each other as usual.
  • Excellent comms with CHAOS who performed fantastically.
  • SPARROW-1 had great CRM, prosecuting numerous targets, resulting in lots of target destruction. Super fun to work with SMEs like Spin.M and Highman.J to get warheads on foreheads.
  • Appreciate Higher Command approving our request for the AH-6H model. This provided us with slightly more firepower options at the small cost of more weight/less flight performance.
Cons:
  • Fog level was quite high/dense and significantly impeded targeting efforts.
  • Unfortunately, while Pilot Flying, I took a head shot right near ENDEX and the bird was unrecoverable and crashed.
Important Note with regard to this:
We had Sparrow 1 revealing the position of the convoy during movement.
  • It's cool for the initial step off, but we can't have them hovering over as we approach the objective.

SPARROW-1 was acting under direction from CHAOS to escort the convoy and provide best ISR. Due to the fear of the extreme threat posed by "Strong anti-air defenses using MANPADS" (quoted verbatim from the OPORD) we had to fly very low and fast for the escort. Once our tasking was changed by CHAOS, we then followed those instructions and repositioned to a BP. Just saying that we were following orders in hand and had to do so in fast NOE flight orbits to reduce risk to the aircraft and it's crew as the deadly AA threat was believed to be significant.
