Pros:

  • Extremely Extraordinary Mission... back to extreme basics (maps/nav/tools/loadouts/arsenal/resources/heals/ etc. etc.) (valuable, but not nearly what we train for)... good like an episode of Survivor since there was zero point zero technology involved in this mission.
  • VERY GOOD concept, just VERY unintended consequences, at least for Bear-3 Element, which I speak for entirely.
  • IMO, I honestly wouldn't mind having a "back to basics" "blindfold""Basic Land Nav" event maybe once a year. It did make you remember your basic skills, ... and that GPS/MicroDagr/Ctab is a luxury and if the [****] hits the fan, you might just be reduced to your paper map. (i.e. "Semper Paratus") [ALWAYS!] [IMO and obviously ....Nav-Aids aren't going away any faster than your smart-phones, but we all need to know basic LAND]
  • Infantry was understanding of our inherent Aviation difficulties which was appreciated in the midst of total confusion/frustration.
  • Infantry did a great job. As for my bird and it's trooper passengers, I watched them providing the 360 degree security as they should [3 sec/360 security] Well done guys.
  • I've said it A THOUSAND TIMES (1000x) and ALWAYS should occur,---> EndEx had EVAC!... FINALLY! Can't put soldiers on the battlefield not knowing/expecting them to GET OUT ALIVE!... (i.e. without Scotty on the Starship beaming them up/out).

Cons:

  • Extremely Extraordinary mission likely had negative effects with regard to recruitment AND public players for our most populous prime time. Chaos and confusion reigned before even the outset, even for veterans like me. Should'a been an MCC, not WW. [IMO]
  • CLEAR COMMS! Alpha Co. is a support asset/support system and we exist to serve the infantry./GROUND. When you board the aircraft, you should CLEAR COMMS and let your section/squad leader do the talking. Absent CLARITY OF COMMS, we have Chaos. Wanna lead, PLEASE do, we ALWAYS need leaders. Don't STEP ON your leaders FOOT! Aviation" We as flight crew (PC/CP/CC/DG) all with 3 radios, simultaneously listening to PAX chatter, CC and DG comms all at the same time. The only person authorized to say "last man" or "all in" or etc. IS THE LEADER. This is not a dig on anybody, just a reminder to FOLLOW THE LEADER and let them quarterback the situation.
  • How much time do we have lol ;-) ....
  • Mi-8 is an ABJECTLY HORRIBLE aircraft in EVERY respect/dimension/description/possibility/known-to-mankind etc. and should NEVER be allowed even as an option in 7Cav Ops OR Public Server. As the Pilot-in-Command I EVEN voiced concerns (and even declined flight for a bit) about this HORRIFIC, CRASH-WORTHY, EXPLODE-WORTHY air-frame and inquired/asked Tiger-1/Tiger-2 to handle re-inserts and the re-supply requests. My superior(s) were apparently not in agreement and I obeyed under protest. I filled the pilot role LAST MINUTE and I apologize to ground forces because it's just a TERRIBLE, God-AWFUL helicopter and I did the very best I could. And all of Alpha Co. did the best they could under those conditions. As a PRO pilot, infantry has my thanks for being so patient and understanding, given my non-ability to give BEST transport/logistics/re-supply due to my lackluster, zero-quality aircraft that just wanted to repeately and randomly explode.
  • Load-out availability/limitations were terrible.
  • No Heal at base Arsenal, so you had to go back to lobby/re-slot and set all everything back up.
  • Unfortunately due to the loss of Infidel mid-way through the mission, there was a comms blackout with coordination. It just happens in life and underscores how valuable Infidel is and IF POSSIBLE how necessary/desired a back-up Infidel is.

Pros:
  • Solid performance from all involved,. Professionalism when approaching all the varying objectives.
  • Solid leadership allowed for clear communication and movement orders to be given.
  • Challenging parameters with a 'back to basics' setup was a welcomed change.
  • Squad was well executed in various roles such as assaulting, SBF and convoying across large AO.
  • Good movement through various taskings and ambush zones.
  • Identifying targets set good practice for thinking before firing.
  • All members had fun and enjoyed premise of mission. They appreciated the old style feel and period setting.
  • Blue smoke was an effective way of marking locations and allowed easy identification.
  • Much appreciated step up to 6 from Swagger.J to solo lead entire mission.
  • Watching the numerous air assets at work was entertaining and created a real feel of all assets working in tangent.
  • Infil and exfil both set and ended the high work rate mission well.
Cons:
  • Helicopters in some instances were bugging which led to difficulties in boarding and dismounting.
  • Friendly fire incident slowed down our advance.
  • The similarities between enemy and our own led to many blu on blu instances from all in operation. Along with enemies being misidentified as friendly.
  • A set precedence for uniforms or headgear to alleviate the pressure of PID.
The overall mission was amazing fun from start to finish. Top work from all involved.

Pros:
  • Lots of contacts
  • Good comms with my gunner
  • Always busy with tasking
  • One successful autorotation
Cons:
  • Bird was bouncing when on the ground
  • Infidel should commit to the whole operation or else CAS calls break down

Pros:

  • Nice to play Russians, more reliant on mass rather than precision munitions
  • Friendlies did a great job of constantly marking positions with smoke through the entire Operations. Don't have access to advanced optics on the Mi-24s so everything is done through mk1 eyeballs

Cons:
  • CAS lost alot of structure and coordination with the ground when Infidel-1 disconnected
