If I missed you being a PAK in my squad please PM me and I will update it.

My main cons are:

Radio comms a bit hectic

Atlas and Mustang fighting over casualties in a gaggle.

Decentralized command of Sierra not always the most applicable from an SL stand point.

We need to be faster on reinforcing a downed or damaged Sierra and facilitating repair.

AT restriction of spike missiles isn't great, if we are going to restrict that we can't use missiles, my Sierra Crew and myself think more AP rounds need to be given to the Sierra.

Waiting until spotters actually call IDF in to be valid targets is not applicable to me in a hostile environment, if you're using Binos and are with enemy troops, weapon or not they should be a valid target.

Pros:

Good maneuver to contact.

Good comms on squad to squad level as well as good cover from 1 to 4 and vice versa.

Pretty good ROE discipline I saw no violations of it.

Very good drone spotting and communication through platoon to counter act enemy threats before they reach us.

COMBAT AFTER ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: Atlas-6
Element Leader: First Lieutenant Sam.T

Pros
  • Individual actions (medical work, explosives work, in-platoon communication) were all very good.
  • Initial tasking with CIVPOP and GREENFOR was handled professionally, and effectively, with rapid treatment and displacement of wounded personnel from OBJ Gladiator to a safer nearby location.
  • Considering the dwindling number of Atlas members towards the end of the operation, casualties were handled as effectively as could be expected. The overall scale of this operation, and circumstance within, lead to difficulties maintaining mutual support throughout.
  • Capture of EPW for intelligence purposes, excellent maintenance of ROE treating the OPFOR trooper and effectively securing them for transport.
  • Lots of medical work for Atlas, and later on Mustang.
  • PACE plan was effectively followed, with units both using emergency daylight signals and the cTab during periods of communication difficulties.
  • Personnel from other parts of 1-7 coming to augment numbers. Both in Viking and Atlas.
Cons:
  • Issues with arsenal whitelists for roles.
  • Lack of Zeus support for effective operational pacing. This meant that by the time Atlas began taking contact from OPFOR, Viking was already in place and providing effective supporting fires. Most of the folks in Mustang and Atlas-4 were looking forward to the defense phase of this operation, which ended up not really happening.
  • Atlas-4 reported an abysmal time at this FTX, likely due to a combination of lacking training on explosives outside of rudimentary demolitions, operational pacing and lack of maintained security by line infantry units.
  • Lack of defined tasking lead to confusion on the role of Atlas and Mustang (the former being a mobile medical team and the latter being a search and recovery team in this context). In future, if the intent is for Mustang to eventually become another medical team, we should just utilize our normal callsigns to avoid confusion.
  • Issues handling MASCAL (arguing over casualties). When a MASCAL is called, all available medical resources are going to be vectored to that call. Whether those resources are needed is up to the first providers on scene who conduct triage. There should not be "arguing" or confusion over which team of medics takes ownership and responsibility on scene.
  • Viking callsigns using the Troop Command Net as their platoon net lead to confusion, un-needed net traffic and challenges communicating across long range channels.
  • Map demarcation of explosives and minefields should not be included in the mission composition, instead they should be left to the placing unit. Inaccuracy of map markers, and difficulties identifying physical markers due to vehicle visibility, lead to several BLUFOR vehicles driving through the APERS fields placed by Atlas-4.
  • Atlas platoon does not have the organic resupply, refuel and repair capability that Viking does, leading to exacerbated downtime at OBJ Gladiator waiting on vehicle repairs.
  • Low turnout for Viking (effectively two squads) likely contributed to the lack of security for support units (both Atlas-1 and Atlas-4's vehicles were destroyed as they were outpaced by Dragoons rushing to support infantry, leading to no demolitions on last objectives and very delayed medical response to MASCALs on final OBJs).

Element Callsign: Viking-6
Element Leader: Second Lieutenant Narramoor.A

Pros
  • Well paced operation with plenty of engaging and exciting set pieces. Really good work by Geki.
  • Really good independent work from each Viking squad taking initiative on the various objectives and iterating on the situations as they unfolded.
  • Lots of medical work for Atlas.
Cons:
  • Issues with arsenal whitelists for roles.
  • Viking-5's vehicle was unable to repair, rearm and refuel. This led to a lot of downtime (~45 minutes) Perhaps Atlas could have an equivalent asset?
  • Would have been beneficial to have an additional zeus to help with the workload
  • A few radio issues on the long range 56 net
