The assault on Utah Beach was an assault on all 6 of the senses because boy howdy did I see dead people. Along the beach we put up an impressive wall of smokes that was viciously cut through by the german MG42s like the angry glare of a Vice Principal catching grade 10 boys vaping in the bathroom. I spent those terrifying moments eating sand and stabbing morphine into every downed brother I could reach. With a terrible bedside manner I shouted out to each man "bandage yourselves" and "no running by the pool" as I had more pressing matters to attend to like eating sand. Eventually a few handsome SLs managed wriggle south of the point and set up some OPs. This allowed us to gain a foothold in the hill and squeeze the germans out from two sides claiming the Red Roof House for our own.

The focus now was on to the AA Battery and we licked them like a 9 volt. We charged in with a well placed airhead turned garrison to the Northwest. It was flanked and it was ours. Following the assault and battery they sought refuge at The Chapel. A lot of wine was spilled but once again we were able to absolve them of it. During this time I continued to patch up our good ol American boys the best I could. Giving them flintstones gummy vitamins, the choice of Spiderman, Frozen, or Dora the explorer bandaids, and a forehead kiss to send them on their way.

As we chased the Krauts towards La Grande Crique my acting Squad Leader 2LT.Anderson.P was struck down with a round chambered in irl 9pm and the responsibility became mine to keep J Squad together. The Germans had dug in deep and this proved to be the most arduous portion of the day. Shelled to hell and turned away at every hedge row we battled it out and despite the odds, never gave up hope. An impressive 600 meter skirmish line was formed and we made the slow advance westward. Our tank crews acting as the point of the umbrella parted the clouds and their cheeks. With only 30 seconds to spare, miraculously Uncle Sam held La Grande Crique.

Everything was coming up Milhouse and we were prepared to take the Flooded House. While the bulk of our forces pushed in from the East (their cuffs were bone dry!), J Squad set towards constructing forward repair stations, establishing southern garrisons, and pressuring from below. Momentum and morale from the knifes edge victory over La Grande seemed to fill America with "click on heads good" juice. Thankfully, finally the day was won. The Axis acted resolutely and admirably in their defences but the wind was at the backs of the Allies which pushed us onwards and pushed the Krauts out.

I would name more names if I remembered to remember them. Apologies to those forgotten you may be gone but you're not forgotten. Most fun I've ever had on an Offensive map. Such a close game and I still can hardly believe that the Allies managed a victory on Utah. Everyone brought their all and it was an absolute joy to be a part of!
