OIC AAR Comments:

PRO :
  • Good movement within the towns itself cleared out two whole towns with two squads
  • Good CSAR when we had downed aircraft
  • Better coms on the convoy but can be better
  • Communcations within the platoon was solid we had each squad talking with each other

CONS:
  • AGS-30 is OP, do not use again
  • Got bogged down a lot due to unfortunate events with all aviation assets going down
  • Convoy was good at first, with the limitations after the first OBJ caused some chaos
If you do not see your name let me the OIC and Mission Controller know

Pro:
Great work from Buffalo on the reinserts, HVT extractions and the resupplies
Convoy callouts were better tonight.
Good teamwork between the leadership tonight
Squads were flexible and responsive to multiple different situations

Con:
MISFIT 4 diverted a truck to take 2x Buf crew back. Should of have been a tasking for 5 or Atlas to run that crew back to the base.

Pro:
Great mid-week Op, challenging and demanding good amount of enemy activity - really enjoyed the variety there

Con:
Might have been better with a different RW asset other than a LB due to the requirement for Stand Off ISR and AAA/AA presence
Over utilisation of flares led to very difficult PID at night at range, we all had NVGs so Flares should be used for Target Marking only

Pro:

Good suppression
Good first objective
100% kill on 1st OBJ QRF
Keeping down pilots secure before extracted
Good contact
Did good, overwhelming fire power.
Good time

Con:

Slow start, start earlier, roll out at start time.
Suggestion on evacuating HVT outside of town, behind a hill like a km outside.
Weird position in the beginning
SL misfit 4 need move SBF quicker
Don't send back vic, as we lost the vic for the rest of operation, should have been extracted by helicopter.
Incident with Atlas and Alpha died. Didn't clear LZ, didnt use the guns on the helicopter, turned out they couldn't get guns on.
Do not rush attacks on objectives (obj2)
Too long operation for WW. be flexible.
Leadership need to be better at spreading the troopers, platoon bunching up, risk of platoon wipe.
Radio problem at 2nd objective.
Need to be better at calling when leadership goes down.

Comments:
Hard time identifying friendlies with heavy enemy flair rain.

Element Callsign: BUFFALO-1
Element Leader: Warrant Officer 1 Hamm.C

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Sergeant Major Schmidt.A
Warrant Officer 1 Villmarsson.L
Warrant Officer 1 Ramirez.M

Pros:
  • Great mission concept/design. Tons of fun.
  • BUFFALO-1 enjoyed a fully crewed bird most of the time.
  • BUFFALO-1 Aircrew were highly competent in executing their respective responsibilities.
  • Intra-bird and ship-to-ship comms were quite good. Cooperative CTAF, position reports allowed for good airspace SA.
  • BUFFALO-1 CSAR was on-point and highly effective.
  • Great Combined Arms teamwork after an unfortunate but successful autorotation landing by BUFFALO-1 following a missile hit. While the Aircrew endeavored to repair the helo, ground forces immediately responded and assisted by providing security for the down aircraft. Ultimately repairs failed and the bird was destructed. MISFIT-4 provided RTB ground transport for BUFFALO-1 Aircrew.
  • MISFIT-5 did a great job directing/adjusting/coordinating/communicating BUFFALO-1 with HVTs, LZs, and resupply efforts. Really appreciate his use of Lasso during night operation as this makes helo ingress/approach and precision landing quicker and easier. Much preferred over IR strobes or chemlights which are much harder to see/pinpoint.

Cons:
  • Apache (RAIDER), DAP or MLASS (BISON) would have likely been a better overall fit for this mission.
  • Unable to effect repairs on downed helo, not even to a yellow status, not enough to at least limp it back to base for full repair or bird exchange.
  • OPORD was great to start with, just incomplete/half-baked.
  • In-Game planning/efficiency could have been better/faster at mission launch as it took about ~30 minutes to get the show on the road.
