I had the honour of being inspected by her during a parade in 2005. Looking back at TV footage, it was a wet and miserable day. But I don't remember it that way at all. Definitely one of the highlights of my career. We've lost a great monarch.

I carried her commission most of my adult life. I've never known, like most others, another monarch. Sad days, very sad days.
