Pro:
  • We took a lot of contact
  • Communication with Gunslinger was pretty good
  • MOUT felt really good

Con:
  • Had a situation where my vic just started to spin out of control (even took my hands off the keyboard); we assume it is because the vic kept running between water/land
  • The route seemed rushed for the sake of time, and didn't have much tactical sense in my opinion; 5 did well to work it out and reconsolidate
  • I blew us up; sorry Davidson. :(

PROS:
  • Got to practice surgery with element
  • Causalities treated in timely manner
CONS:
  • ATLAS vehicle destroyed by BMP on convoy routed resulting in mass cass of ATLAS
  • Overall felt like a choir for this WFW (e.g. Going to calls and people gone or already treated)
  • Bleed out timer was shortened
  • Lack of first aid for troopers

PROS:
  • Good mission concept/design, hate I missed Phase I last week.
  • Great crew, great intra-bird comms/coordination.
  • Great problem solving attempts with a continuous AH-1 targeting and fire control problem.
  • Excellent teamwork with repair/refuel/rearm.
CONS:
  • Marine Corps. aircraft do not work well and their flight models are not fun/pilot-friendly. They are just BAD. Always go with Army/Air Force Aviation assets. Had major issues with RAIDER-2 targeting and fire control problems, tried to solve- no avail.
  • Going forward, for Marine themed ops, it would be preferable and advantageous (for everybody) to have Marine ground forces supported by Army and Air Force aviation aircraft.
  • Aviation always would prefer Repair/Rearm/Refuel trucks (instead of the big box container things) for mobility and flexibility. This allows us to support ground forces much more expeditiously and effectively.
  • ACRE issues are always a major drag and this issue was quite problematic tonight.
  • Performance issues later in the OP with some hellacious FPS and scenery popping.

PROS:
  • Good initial route plan.
    • Leadership explored options.
    • The crew was included and involved in the route plan.
    • Gun-5 made calls underway which - in hindsight, could have been delegated with a set-up convoy net.
  • Good effort by Gun-1 to hold the ORP at first arrival.
    • It was a nightmare scenario with short sightlines and easily accessible ambush positions for the enemy.
    • Being the sole element that made it meant no medical or other support. Only Raider through type 3 control.
    • As people were knocked out in Gun-1, some started leaving. It is not good behavior and reflects poorly on the Cav.
  • Excellent -to perfect defile and intersection drills. As the crew, it warmed our hearts.
    • The infantry did a very good job making sure the vehicle was safe.
  • Very good drone work made it so we could make intelligent decisions navigating Georgetown.
  • Stacked Crew.
CONS.
  • There were a few instances of other elements walking in front of the vehicle as it was moving through urban terrain.
    • Make your presence and intent known.
  • Difficult to keep track of the fireteams.
    • As we were a different shack from our dismounted element, it made it almost impossible to keep track of the positions of the fireteams in the element. For the next OP/campaign, maybe consider making the APC crew part of the dismounted element.
  • A mass teleport at the end caused considerable strain on the servers.
    • Make sure to use restrain with mass teleports. Most elements are close from the endex called.

PROS:
  • Fantastic operation, loved the transition from possibly losing to successful OP.
  • Medical performance was amazing, particularly CCP management.
  • Comms on 15 were clear, concise and accurate.

  • Radio issues. Which seem to be getting worse as of late.

Pros:
  • Seemingly endless medical work from the point of initial contact. Even in the "downtime" between movement and objectives, my team was out of their AAVP and treating minor casualties.
  • Positive feedback in regards to the urban environment towards the end. Moving in and around complex urban environments is something we don't train for often, so any practice is beneficial.
  • Clean communication regarding intra-team, inter-team, and team to platoon medic comms.
  • CCP setup was phenomenal. The initial CCP that we utilized when receiving an influx of casualties from Gun-1 worked like a well-oiled machine. We had 3 red casualties and multiple yellows walk into a building staffed by 1-1.5 teams worth of medics and had them back out and in the fight in 5 minutes or less. Excellent work all around!
    • One medic had the foresight to pack extra weapons and some L-AT in the vehicle. Thanks to that, we were fully stocked, and we were able to neutralize 2x BMPs that were threatening friendly positions and the CCP at the beginning of the OP!
Cons:
  • The bleed-out timer is still inconsistent between mission files. It is nearly impossible to bleed out on some; on others it'll happen within seconds with sufficient wounds. While many of us are not specifically against more pressure on the medical staff in operations, some consistency between missions, so we know when people are savable, would be appreciated across the board.
  • Tonight we were working on radio brevity and proper procedures regarding CASEVAC calls and were pushing for either smoke marking or CTAB marks. This ended up not happening in most cases. Utilizing the Android and CTAB for casualty marks in conjunction with a short grid has a definite effect on team response time and in most cases is more efficient than utilizing an 8-digit grid in the call. We would love to see this used more as we move forward!
  • Communication regarding movement orders could have been improved. To no one fault, there is an inherent delay in relaying orders of movement through the platoon medic to the teams. This could be solved by dispersing movement orders a little further away from the start of the campaign or utilizing a convoy net during operations like these.
Noteworthy items:
  • The kits provided tonight were a mixed bag, hence my not calling them a pro or con. On one hand, we had all the medications we needed (excluding surgical tools and anesthesia) and an ample supply of our most used medical kit. On the other hand, we were still lacking some essential items such as primary weapon magazines and the AEDs we all carry for use outside of vehicles. The medics collectively appreciate the effort to try and port over our standard kits! And correcting a few mistakes for these took much less time than ultimately building new kits from scratch like we did last week!
  • With uncertain bleed-out timers, it is imperative that troopers, battle buddies, and the squad CLS stay on top of basic first aid! The bleed-out timer is almost always shorter than the cardiac arrest timer! If you're allowed to bleed without anyone controlling that hemorrhaging, you will die before ATLAS can make it to you! Basic life-saving skills are critical here, just as they are in real life.

PROS:
  • Great problem solving attempts with a continuous AH-1 targeting and fire control problem.
  • Excellent teamwork with repair/refuel/rearm.
CONS:
  • Marine Corps. aircraft do not work well and their flight models are not fun/pilot-friendly. As RAIDER-2, the pilot and gunner we unable to target anything on the ground using lock on weapons (Laser/Radar Guided). The Viper is not a well-rounded aircraft, please use Apache in the future.
  • Aviation always would prefer Repair/Rearm/Refuel trucks (instead of the big box container things) for mobility and flexibility. This allows us to support ground forces much more expeditiously and effectively.
  • ACRE issues are always a major drag and this issue was quite problematic tonight.
