COMBAT AFTER-ACTION REPORT

Element Callsign: ATLAS-2
Element Leader: Private Teach.C

7th Cav Personnel Within Element:
Corporal Velasquez.J
Specialist Sam.T
Private Teach.C

Pros:
  • Squad did really well with communication and movements
  • Overall fun OP

Cons:
  • Bleed out times felt extremely fast most casualties were black tag before ATLAS could arrive
  • No communication that surgeries were tied to vehicles before OP began

Element Callsign: EAGLE FLIGHT (EAGLE-1 AND EAGLE-2)
Element Leader:
Specialist William Sutodoreh

7th Cavalry Personnel Within Element:

Specialist William Sutodoreh
Major Tazmin Hobbs
Private First Class Villmarsson.L

Pros:
  • Learned a lot about using F/A-18 in operations.
  • Good comms with Infidel when no ACRE issues
  • Really quick air-to-air and air-to-ground target acquisition and engagement when in air
  • REALLY fun operation, to the point of still having fun despite extreme frustrations with radio comms
Cons:
  • ACRE issues -- Eagle-2 could not hear Infidel and vice-versa
  • Lots of aircraft downtime, partially due to an issue with the Super Hornet's tailhook causing explosions on non-carrier landing and on engine startup after Zeus placement.
  • Pilots unable to exit aircraft when damaged, either via ejection or via usual "get out" -- this meant no CSAR and forced Zeus involvement

Element Callsign: Sabre-1
Element Leader: Colonel Tharen.R

7th Cav Personnel Within Element:
Colonel Tharen.R
Command Sergeant Major Nexhex.A
Corporal Gerrish.T

Pros:
  • Good op, lots of fun, plenty of targets
  • Good communication w/ Viking-6
  • Good communication/coordination w/ Sabre-2

Cons:
  • Could hear Sabre-3 on comms but they couldn't hear us; probably join in progress (JIP) issues w/ ACRE
  • The built-up/urban areas were not really big enough to do close coordination w/ Viking-1, so that didn't really pan out

Element Callsign: SABRE-2
Element Leader: Staff Sergeant Lamb.J

7th Cav Personnel Within Element:
Staff Sergeant Lamb.J
Sergeant Novak.I
Recruit Schneider.H

Pros:
  • Excellent Operation. Overall coordination with VIKING Elements was spot on
  • Tank engagements were outstanding and all armored threats were eliminated
  • SABRE-2 managed to keep our tank in the fight for the majority of the Operation
  • Good communication with SABRE-1 kept both SABRE's on track towards the Objectives designated by OPORD sheet.
  • The difficulty of the Planning and the nature of the Objectives required SABRE to take a more Offensive approach which overall payed off in the long run.

Cons:
  • Could hear Sabre-3 on comms but they couldn't hear us despite repeated attempts to hail and clear up. Most likely due to join in progress (JIP) issues w/ ACRE. Has been known to disrupt comms and clutter channels
  • Map was not Tank friendly at all. Predominately flat and dense jungles prevented maneuvering and repositioning of SABRE assets. Additionally, defending the dam was impossible for SABRE to undertake due to limited visibility and limited SBF positions to utilize.
  • SABRE assets were high this operation. SABRE-1 was completely destroyed killing all three crewmen while SABRE-2 lost three crewmembers total throughout the Operation. ATLAS response time and limited medical supplies rendered life saving measures ineffective.
