Good evening Ladies and Gents!
Just thought I'd drop by to say hello and give a little update on Old Southside, and old I feel.
Last week was a tough week. I had another surgery in the long line of surgeries I've had over the past two years.. In 1976, when I was 8 years old, I had a pituitary gland brain tumor destroy my pituitary gland. A lot of complications and health problems came from that. The third of four surgeries was to place a ventricular shunt into my brain to vent ventricular fluid off of my brain, so as to allow for release of fluid pressure on my head. This past May, the shunt turned 45 years old and I've never had a problem with it...... until now.
I lost four days track of time, and was quite delusional during that time. I went to the ER and had surgery on my head on Tuesday, one week ago. A connection port to my shunt had become damaged and wasn't allowing the excess fluid to filter off of my head properly. So with all of the swelling, I don't remember anything until last Tuesday night, late in the ICU Hospital.
Fortunately, I went home Thursday evening, two days later. Things have normalized pretty well at home and I'm back to full strength and still healing from surgery. Anyway, I'm turning 54 tomorrow, on October 5th and just thought about dropping by to say hello. Thank you to those of you who have access to my Facebook page who dropped by for a message or a like on my picture of my surgery. My facebook name for anyone interested, is my real name, Wayne Roark from Temple, Texas.
So I hope the summer has been good to you all. I know it's been quite well for me regardless of the surgery. I certainly hope my note finds each of you doing well. I miss you guys like crazy.
Will check in again soon. Much love.
Onward,
Southside Out......
