Highlights
  • Strong flight coordination and pre-mission briefings
  • Several successful carrier landings, including at least one particularly good one
  • There was a notable carrier landing following a sudden u-turn by the carrier (during landing manuevers).
  • Good communication across CAP, strike, and logistics elements; CAS flights reported no enemy fighter contact.
  • Non-cav members flying alongside the group was noted positively.
  • Logistics crew were able to improvised by pulling troops/supplies from nearby zones after finding no supplies at Kobuleti.
  • Multiple first-time mission completions and a number of folks that flew with us for the first time.
  • One pilot noted it had been six months since flying the Hornet but still dropped a lot of bombs and cleared targets.
Recurring issues/cons
  • Desync problems, likely tied to the use of cruise missiles in a heavy mission environment.
  • Early on, the SA-2 site was a persistent threat, downing a few pilots.
  • A pilot nearly killed a friendly MiG-29 (friendly fire incident).
  • Carrier landings reportedly not registering points
  • Minor comms breakdown: some crew not communicating on the carrier (public players)
